The Quarter Two Report - The One Were I Went on A Semi-Hiatus...
Sorry, I've been pretty much awol over the past three months. Despite me thinking I was ready to come back at the end of Q1, I just wasn't ready... I don't know what caused my massive blogging slump beyond all the shit since March last year catching up with me but it took its toll... And it's not just the blog that's suffered... It's been everything. I'm not going to lie and say I'm okay now - I'm really not - but I can say that I'm getting help and I will be ok. It'll just take time.
So, what's been going on?
Well, things have been slowly - oh so very very slowly - opening back up again over the past few months.
Schools went back, shops, business and leisure facilities are open, and I've been back in the office 3 days a week since March.
The professor and I got our first dose of Pfizer and will have our second soon.
The parents are fully vaccinated and are doing well... Mostly.
The little dude's fencing lessons have resumed, his after school clubs are back on... And we're actually getting out to do stuff and are making the most of it (when we can).
We've been to indoor crazy golf near Bournemouth Beach, we hung out at the beach, we shopped, we ate, we went to Greenwich and visited the Cutty Sark and Greenwich Observatory. We went to Paultons theme park and had a picnic at Old Wardour Castle.
We're off to see Black Widow today (first cinema trip in... I have no idea how long) and we're super looking forward to that.
It's not much when you consider it a re-cap of the past three months but when you compare it to the three months before we've been busy! lol.
We've been watching lots of movies at home (continuing our Marvel re-watching binge) and we thoroughly enjoyed the Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV show... Loki, so far, has also been excellent.
I've also been indulging in old movies and the little dude has been watching some of them with me. He endured watching Grease last weekend and had me cracking up with perfectly timed comments... Especially his rant on how Rizzo, "could do so much better." All in all, he wasn't impressed with alpha toolery, petrol-headedness, and simpering females who'd change themselves for a guy... Probably why he liked Rizzo and thought she could do better! 😆 He liked some of the soundtrack though and the dance-off... To be fair, the movie was not how I remembered it really and I had to strongly agree with most of his points!!
I'm still playing lots of Stardew Valley and have branched into the world of Mods for the game. I'm loving the creativity of those that code these things and how much they add to the game and characters as a whole.
I'm also loving little Bucky our hamster...
I say "our" quite deliberately as I'm the one who feeds him, cleans him, and plays with him. He's more my hamster than anybody else's but technically he belongs to the little dude so "ours" it is.
Sitting playing with him in the evening is so soothing... I have to brush him with a toothbrush because of his long hair. When he hears me speaking, he runs up to the cage door and sits staring at me ready to come out... He's awesome. Bucky rocks!
Oh! And the professor has been going nuts in the veggie garden and we're starting to eat his hard work... This is always noteworthy to me as I kill everything I try to grow but he's the freaking plant whisperer.
As for reading... Well, I'm reading!
From the beginning of April until the end of June, I have read 16 books.
That's 4 more than the first quarter of the year but still hideously behind where I'd usually be at.
Do I care? Nope! I'm reading.
That's all I care about... More than that, I'm enjoying reading whatever I feel like and not forcing myself to read anything "because I have to," so there's that bonus too.
I have acquired more books than I reasonably want to count... *waves buh-bye to spending cap* but I don't much care about that either as they were all good deals/on sale.
(And I think I may have missed a few...)
The “official” status of my 2021 reading goal/challenges are:
Who cares?! Seriously... Who cares? Not me... I sat down to tally everything up, and break it down per challenge, for this post and my brain just noped out.
Rather than force it, I'm going to listen to myself.
I'll guess I'll review how I did at the end of the year (if I feel like it) but right now I'm exhausted by everything and just want to read without pressure so I'm not tracking it.
Over the past couple of weeks, I've been slowly writing up a backlog of reviews, drafting posts and generally getting back to blogging again.
I'll never be a 5+ posts a week kind of gal but I'm aiming for 3... Let's see how this goes?
I hope you've all been well!
I look forward to catching up with what's been going on.
I'm linking this to Kimberly's Sunday Post to catch up... "Normal" Sunday Posts will return hopefully next week!
