Weekly Update #135
Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!
After avoiding the world for over two weeks, I'm slowly poking my head back into it and I'm not really liking it. However, I'll persist as I can't live on a fictional farm forever... I also want to read and need to tidy my house and stuff so... Back into the world, I go!
There's not much else to say here. We're in lockdown so can't go anywhere. I'm working from home, so there isn't anything to report there. The kid is currently homeschooled, and will be until Feb half-term at the earliest, so... Yep! You guessed it - nothing to report there.
It's a big cycle of eat, sleep, do whatever and repeat.
At least we're safe and healthy, right?
Oopsie Daisy by Iris Morland (Free)
Down Beat by Max Henry (Free)
Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews (Pre-Order delivery)
The Stalking Jack The Ripper Collection (4 books) by Kerri Maniscalco (£3.99)
PS - I've decided not to include any KU books in this section going forward as they're returned after being read... Same would apply to library books.s
The good news is that I actually started reading this week!
I'm listening to Lancelot by Giles Kristian (and it's so addictive!) but it's a long one (22hrs) so it's going to take a while to get through it... Luckily, I've a lot of cleaning to do! 😉
Plus, I read my first book of the year, To Kill A Fae by C.S. Wilde.
I quite liked it so I'll be making the most of my Kindle Unlimited and continuing with the rest of the series.
I've been terrible at keeping up with your blog posts (again) while in my hiding phase but I've been trying to work my way through them all via my Feedly over the past 3/4 days... Needless to say, I have a long way to go but I'll be dropping by as I work through them this week.
We've been continuing watching Modern Family but the peace has slowed... We only got through one season this week! 😆 (We began s5 yesterday.)
We also watched the first two episodes of WandaVision and I'm intrigued! It's not the Marvel TV show I was dying to see (that would be Falcon and The Winter Soldier) but I'm definitely on board with it now and can't wait for next week's episode.
Another show I've been watching on and off is Ghosts. It's a BBC show made by the people that make horrible histories except it's for adults... Think haunted, crumbling manor house, ghostly shenanigans and the poor folks who inherited it. I'm not 100% sold on it yet but the episodes are short, there's only 6 in a season, and it's amusing in small doses so it breaks up everything else quite nicely.
I don't have a song but I've been watching this video almost daily lately as it just makes me feel happy and makes me want to dance... Oti (the pro) is my favourite Strictly dancer and I'm still salty and confused over how she didn't win it the year she danced with this guy... (Danny Mac)
Seriously, you should watch it. It's just under 2 minutes and it'll bring joy!
Kiddie's Corner: The Pugly Duckling, I Can Do Magic, Rissy No Kissies, and A Beary Rainy Day
Book Blogger Hop: Post Scheduling and Other Blogging Behaviours
Book Blitz: Bjorn Cursed by NJ Walters
(I have no idea what else I'll get scheduled...)
Have a great week all!
Wow! 22 hours is a long audiobook. Mine are never that long since I usually listen to contemporaries. Hey, you're enjoying it, so more better. I feel I am in the minority, because I am good with the way things are been (more or less). I am really dreading returning to my commute.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing everybody in the world is getting sick and tired of COVID. We are also in lockdown (in the Netherlands), and it ain't getting better here either. I see people going to the stores without a mask, it is astonishing how many people are ignoring the rules. Hope everything will get better soon. Stay strong!
ReplyDeleteYes - I'm currently working my way through Tombland, which I think is 24 hours - I like listening to long audiobooks reads as I housework.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the Oti and Danny clip - though my alltime favourite is their Samba, which I think is the most wonderful, sexy dance EVER on Strictly. And I absolutely agree with you - Danny was ROBBED! I think Oti is the most inspiring dancer and manages to always bring out the best in her celebrities - but Danny was her best pupil, no disrespect to Bill or Kelvin:)).
Have a great week, Nicci and thank you for bringing back so many sequinned happy memories:)).
Here in the US we are just waiting for our new President to start and maybe bring us a plan. Masks aren't required, I'm still teaching in person, full time, and the death toll rises daily. It is actually scary to think about, honestly.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you loved To Kill a Fae! The author commissioned these two characters as funko pops and I made them. It was so much fun :-)
ReplyDeleteListening to a book while cleaning can make the operation a lot more attractive ! I did the same in my kitchen some time ago. Oh yes, Ghosts ! I watched it at the end of last year and it made my days !
ReplyDeleteThere's something be said for doing what you can to stay healthy. I hope you and your family remain so! Yay for reading! I am glad to hear you are reading again. To Kill a Fae looks like a fun read. We watched WandaVision too and I am curious to see where the show will go. Like you, it's not the Marvel show I am on pins and needles to see, but I did like it. I hope you have a great week, Nicci!
ReplyDeleteWell the nothing to report is pretty much our life for the last almost year. My problems the last few weeks have at least meant extra rest and lots of reading. I hope you enjoy this time for its opportunities as much as you will enjoy when things change again. I did manage to clean out my Feedly yesterday so hopefully I can keep up now. Stay safe and well Nicci!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
We're not in lock down here and we should be. The number of new covid cases has skyrocketed and the hospitals are overwhelmed. But everything is open. It's crazy. I'm staying away from everyone.
ReplyDeleteFalcon and Winter Soldier is the show I'm excited about too! But WandaVision was good!! It was fun and I'm excited to see where the story goes!
ReplyDeleteNothing really new around me either. I'm glad you are staying healthy and safe, though being in lockdown has to be rough sometimes. I need to watch that dance video - I remember Danny Mac from Hollyoaks. And yes, I love Hollyoaks though I'm sooo behind. This is what happens when you're American and trying to watch a British soap opera for years. LOL

I'm keeping my head in and staying as far away from the outside world as I can right now! The news is definitely not good for mental health! We really enjoyed Modern Family and still quote it occasionally. The earlier seasons especially were so funny. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWe watched the first episode of WandaVision and we're curious to see where it's going. We can't wait for The Falcon & the Winter Soldier either.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!
Yes, life is definitely not all that fun at the moment. I really hope thinks look up soon. We are still in lockdown too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy reading.
We aren't in lockdown here, but probably still should be. Our numbers aren't good but the vaccine, I hope, will help us all.
ReplyDeleteOopsie Daisy looks good. I just went over to Amazon to get it. It's still free.
I hope you have a great and safe week.
Our lockdown continues as well, so other than watching tv and reading books there's not much to do. Hopefully the vaccinations will start soon in my town too and we can slowly get back to a normal life, or as close as possible. Enjoy your books <3
ReplyDeleteMy country is not in lockdown, but I’ve pretty much put myself in lockdown. Every day is exactly the same! I hope you’re having a good week.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Oopsie Daisy! Does anyone actually still say that? Aaah the memories.
ReplyDeleteI don't go anywhere but school and home. Most of our shopping is online and I haven't been in our local mall in months!
Hope you had a good week.
Your days sound like mine! Home and home and home. Lol. I laugh at my Instagram sometimes, it's like wait do I go anywhere. No, not really. That Ghosts show sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteStay safe and well!
Let me know if Ghosts gets any better! We're wrapping up The Boys S2 so I'm running out of TV to watch!
ReplyDeleteWe've been in this pandemic lockdown lifestyle for almost a year, we're not going to know what to do with ourselves when we're able to go outside again!
I'm planning a lockdown celebration for myself as come March it will be a year since I started my own lockdown! Other than a flu vaccination, I can count on both hands how many times I've ventured beyond my garden and that is to the shops a few minutes drive away! I'll have a few beers, watch TV and eat junk food!
ReplyDeleteWe're thinking of starting Wanda Vision. I've heard it's kind of slow. I'm not a big superhero movie fan so not sure what I'll think lol
ReplyDeleteWe loved Lupin.
We're in a lockdown limbo land here. Some things are open - others aren't, the rules are random. So we mostly stick to outdoor walking and take out.
