Weekly Update #132

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

I finished work for the holidays on Thursday and I'm not back in the office until 5th January.
A nice long break is just what I need. Especially at the moment what with all the stuff on the news... Apparently, there's a mutant strain of covid in the South East of England so they've been put into a full lockdown and numerous countries have cut off flights, freight etc with the UK until more is known, I guess. Fun times. Add it to Brexit with no trade deal (as it currently stands) and we're heading for a new shit-show of epic proportions.

I'm lucky to be in a Tier 2 area (pretty minimal restrictions, mostly just can't mingle with other households indoors or out) but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about what January is going to bring.

On the positive, we kick-started our Christmas with a trip to Stourhead on Friday for their Christmas lights event and it was beautiful.

I'm all set for Christmas (food, gifts and everything else I can think of) and we're unaffected by the Prime Minister "cancelling Christmas" as we were going to be ourselves anyway.
This Christmas is going to be very different but it'll still be awesome.

I hope that wherever you all are and however you celebrate (if you celebrate) that you all have a happy and safe Christmas.

The Unlikeable Demon Hunter Collection (Books 1-6) by Deborah Wilde

I took a trip back to Elfhame...

The Queen of Nothing was a re-read and every bit as enjoyable as the first time.

How The King of Elfhame Learned To Hate was a good read but it was super short and for the price? (£9.99 on kindle) A complete rip off... Seriously,

Christmas movies. Lots and lots of Christmas movies.

Have a great week all!

  1. There's plenty of shit show out there going around. We too are just staying home as planned. Merry Christmas Nicci! I wish you a joyful holiday break with some peaceful time to relax.

  2. Whew, I really hope that 2021 looks a bit brighter. Sigh. That's great you are all ready for Christmas though and I hope you have a relaxing holiday.

  3. Enjoy your break! I’m not going to be doing much for Christmas. Just eating a lot and hanging out with the people in my house. Have a great week!

  4. The mutant strain is up here now as well so my dad and I are confined to the house until we know more about the bugger. We have plenty food and stuff to get on with so we'll try and wait it out. It hasn't stopped me getting a stomach virus though. Typical! How does that happen!!!

  5. That new COVID strain is scary. It's getting hard to imagine a time when this virus isn't in our lives. I wish I could see 6 months down the road. On the plus side, so envious of your holiday break! I'm only taking one day off foe now (Christmas Eve day) but I might need to add a few more days in there. :) Hooray for The Queen of Nothing reread!

  6. I love the pictures! I have not been to see any lights yet this year. I need to fix that. I hope you have a lovely break and a wonderful Christmas.

  7. I can't believe there's a mutant strain! Omg! I need to find out more about this.

It's so awesome you get all that time off. I hope you have a lovely time with your family!

  8. Yay for extended holidays, but sorry you have to spend it mostly on lockdown. I read about that new strain of COVID - so crazy!!

  9. Oh, yes, lots of not-so-fun stuff going on out there. Here, we have the election that should be over but somehow isn't. Sigh.

Enjoy your holidays and your books...and thanks for visiting my blog.

  10. Enjoy your time off! Will be keeping the need for a better 2021 in my thoughts. It’s amazing and troubling how tiny little germs can cause so many big bad events. Hope you are able to have a Merry Christmas!

  11. It will be nice for you to have this nice break. And think for a minute about how crazy it is here in the US---just as many cases, but people popping in everywhere as if nothing is going on! Insane.

  12. I heard about the mutant strain and it's all very scary. Just when you think things might be getting better, something happens to make it worse.

I love Christmas lights. They are always so pretty and festive.

Stay stafe! Have a great week! Merry Christmas!

  13. Love the pictures :) The mutant virus and Brexit make for a lot for the end of the year and the one to come, I hope you and your family will be safe. Enjoy the holidays as much as you can :)
