Weekly Update #122

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

Week one of the summer break is complete and it was a fun one!

On Monday, we visited a local cat cafe for lunch then we went to Mottisfont House and Gardens for a long, lazy, afternoon walking around the grounds. It was very pretty with woods, a river walk, and walled gardens.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were boring as I had to work but on Friday the little dude and I went to Stonehenge as it makes for another fun walk but with interesting things to look at along the way.

Friday night I should have been at a friends house, as she was having a socially distanced get together in the garden for her birthday, but I had a migraine so spent the evening tucked up in bed. 😔

Saturday, was lovely and rainy so I curled up with a book in between video games with the family for in the evening we went to our first ever drive through movie!
Drive through movies aren't a thing here but thanks to covid they're having a surge. The movies are never new releases but we went to the Back To The Future screening as we all like that movie and wanted to have the experience.
It was fun.

For those that follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I changed my user name from @SunnyBuzzyBlogs to @BuzzyPuffs. This is mostly because my Instagram isn't really a Bookstagram and I wanted to make a bit of a distinction between the blog and the blogger if that makes sense? Basically, I want to post whatever the heck I want on Instagram and not feel guilty about it not being to a specific "theme"...

And I think that's me for the week! It's been a much busier one than usual and it's nice to have something to report for once! 😀

I'm currently listening to the audiobook for The Switch by Beth O'Leary and reading one of my Christmas ARCs (Miracle Creek Christmas by Krista Jensen) for the Christmas in July readathon... I'll probably finish Miracle Creek Christmas this week but The Switch will probably take me longer.

Mostly, I've been watching Cursed on Netflix.
It has its problems but overall I quite like it.

  1. A cat cafe must be so adorable. I'm not sure if I would be able to walk out of it. =P I would love to visit Stonehenge.

The cover of Theatrical is so pretty! *.*

    Happy readings!

  3. Looks like so much fun! I have not been anywhere but the market since March. I heard they were going to set up a drive in somewhere around here, but I have not been to one myself since I was a teen (that was in the sticks in Pennsylvania too). I love that they showed Back to the Future. Such a great franchise.

  4. Ugh, sorry about the migraine. Hope it didn't last too long. Drive-in movies are such fun. I remember going quite often as a child with my parents. It's fun that they're making a resurgence. And Back to the Future is such an 80's classic.

  6. Stonehenge looks so cool! I'm hoping to visit there this time next year. Keeping my fingers crossed that the world will have returned to normal by then ...

Funny enough, drive-in movies had almost disappeared here in the States (in Arizona, anyway), but COVID has brought them back. I haven't been to one in a long time. My teens go every month or so even though, like you said, they only show old movies, not new releases.

  7. Wow it looks like you had a great week! Drive in movies were almost obsolete here in the states but have made a slight comeback recently. Its kinda cool. I remember going to them all the time as a kid! There is a city near me that does outdoor movies. You can rent an 8ft circle in the park for your family (to keep everyone at an appropriate distance) and they play a movie on a big screen set up in the park!

  8. It's lovely you've been able to get out and walk. We used to do lots of drive-in movies in the old days. Now it's easier to stream or watch DVD/VHS. Nice haul - enjoy some great reads this week!

  10. Oh wow! I need to check out the nearest drive-in movie to us - probably Brighton or Portsmouth, I should think... I used to regularly attend when living in Zambia as a child and I loved it:)). It sounds like you have had an enjoyable week, Nicci - I hope the coming one is good.

  15. I love cat cafes. I've only gotten to go once, but it's one place I would love to visit when - you know - COVID is gone. hah I actually have a drive-in theater fairly close to me, and I love it so much. That's awesome it's kind of a thing where you live right now. Definitely a fun way to socially distance but still get out and have fun.

  16. Looks like you had a great week (except for the migraine).
I don’t think I ever read the entire Dark Days series but I do remember liking it.

Wishing you a great reading week

  17. Sorry about the migraine but glad you got to get out some.

Drive-ins are popping up here too. One of our local gardens started one up.

We used to have movies in the park in the summer but they were all canceled. I wish they threw something together because it could be done with distancing. I guess we have to figure out a new, safe normal.

  18. I'd love to visit Stonehenge! And those woodlands look great to amble through. If my dad and I win the lottery, we're coming south to live! I might even build a big prepper compound that my friends can flee to if the apocalypse comes!
