Welcome!
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!
I got to go into the office for one day this week and it was awesome!
Some of my project team and other colleagues I'm friendly with were also in office and it was so nice to see them and have a chat in person after ten weeks of disembodied voices over the phone!
It'll be another two weeks before I get another day in the office but considering how much of a sanity booster it was, I'll look forward to it!
Today, I got to visit Corfe Castle and it was wonderful! It was sunny but not too warm and we were able to sit with a picnic... Little things like this are what I've missed so much with the lockdown.
It's nice to get little pieces of normal back.
With everything going on in the world, I hope you all stay safe.

I haven't been reading much but I've been listening to the
Song of Achilles while cooking and baking and it is so good... I know it's going to break my heart but it'll be worth it.
The only thing I read (and finished) was this novella -
Will You Be Mine - and enjoyed it.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
We watched the Circe Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant movie this week and I could not stop laughing at the little dude's outrage at all they'd changed!
It felt like every 10 minutes he was ranting about something... Unlike the kid, I haven't read the books and thought the movie was okay, lol.
This week, we're looking forward to the release of the Artemis Fowl movie on Disney+ but once again, the kid has read the books and I have not... Fingers crossed they haven't changed too much with this one!
Have a great week all!
I don't know if I will share your enthusiasm when I return to the office, but glad it was a boost for you. I like the look of The New Guy, and I loved The Wicked Deep. Enjoy all your new shiny books and the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely seeing people.
DeleteI don't have an evil commute like you do though... Can't blame you for not wanting that back.
I'm glad your day at the office went well!! A picnic sounds fantastic. I'm hoping to get one in sometime this summer.

I have a suspicion that summer will be full of picnics... Don't know what else there will be to do! :(
DeleteThat is so awesome that you got to go to work for a little bit and interact with your coworkers! A picnic sounds lovely. The weather here has been kind of wacky... last week it was unbearably hot and then today it was super windy? Idk what's happening. Lol.
ReplyDeleteOhh I have The Song of Achilles from the library but still have not started it yet. Good to know it'll be a heart breaker though ๐
Happy reading!
The Song of Achilles is wonderful! I stopped at a point I knew it was going to go to hell and am waiting until I'm strong enough to be emotionally destroyed, lol, before I finish it!
DeleteSounds like a day back in the office did you a world of good. I’m so glad. And the picnic at the castle sounds wonderful! I picked up Timid last week, too, and I’m excited for it. I have a feeling Devney Perry is going to become a real favorite.
ReplyDeleteIt was awesome! A nice battery re-charge. :)
DeleteGlad you were able to get into the office! When did we ever think we'd say that, right haha? Usually it's more like wanting to get out of the office, pre- lockdown anyway, but after all this enforced staying at home it's nice to get back to some normalcy again for sure. And ohh Seafire looks awesome- I remember thinking looked good when it came out.
ReplyDeleteTake care and be well this week!
I know! I used to spend my days counting down for when I could have a day working from home or the weekend, lol. How things change...
DeleteI had read the book and watched the movie and I share his outrage lol
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to get out. I had my hair done. I was nervous but it went well.

I'll listen to his audiobooks at some point and find out what was so bad, lol.
DeleteGlad the hair went well! I desperately want mine cut! :(
I can understand his outrage as the books were really good and the filmed version other than Mr C was a big let down. We're still in full lockdown with Jimmy Krankie blaming everything on Boris and England, and giving us no clue when things will change. I envy you being in England and not having another Indyref hanging over your head!
ReplyDeleteI fear Indyref because I'm in England and don't get a say in the fate of the country... It pissed me off the first time around and I know it'll be even worse this time. :(
