Weekly Update #106

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

Not a lot to say really... We survived another week in the house.
We worked, we home schooled and I baked. I baked a lot.
Cookies, cinnamon rolls, pretzels, banana bread muffins. I'm going to be the size of a house when we're done with lockdown but I can live with that.

The Easter break officially started "after school" on Friday so now I'm staring down the barrel of two weeks of trying to WFH while entertaining the kid with no school work, no school structure and no way to go out beyond one walk/cycle a day.
It'll either be just fine (extra computer time is an excellent bribe) or it'll be a complete disaster.
I guess we'll see!

In other news, oh wait, I have no other news. Fun times. 🤣

I'm developing a 1-click problem.
I'm clicking all the book sales and freebies but aren't reading any!

All except Miracle Creek Christmas (ARC) and Only Mostly Devastated (paperback purchase) were free or 99p on amazon this week.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

The inability to focus thanks to the lockdown continues this week so only one book read.
It was a good one though. Review posted yesterday.

Monsters University and Sister Act 2 - both chosen by the little dude.

I also started watching The Witcher and even though I'm only two episodes in, I'm liking it!
Henry Cavill fascination reignited! Seriously... Can he just read stories to me in her Geralt voice? That'd be amazing.

6 minutes of pure joy.

  1. Good luck with the Easter break. Are the kids allowed to play in their own yards? I ran the streets as a kid, but my daughter was always in scheduled activities, so I have no idea what kids like to do these days. You hauled some fun books there. Unhoneymooners and Only Mostly Devastated were great. I have had good luck with Avery Flynn's hockey series, so maybe Butterface will be good as well.

  2. I'm having a horrible time focusing on reading! I keep trying, and there's always something that prevents me from fully losing myself in a book. Unhoneymooners is one of my favorite CLO books (The Bathroom of Doom!), and I hope you enjoy it!

Trying to homeschool a six-year-old is a nightmare. I can totally relate to your struggles, and think we should be getting paid for this. ;)

  3. I've been baking a lot too. I find it very comforting these days. I think everyone in my house will be enormous by the time all of this is done, lol.

  4. I haven't done much of anything this week. Still just doing a lot of waiting.

  5. All the baking sounds fabulous. My eating was off the charts for the first two weeks of isolation. Stress eating was the name of the game. This week I got back in control and feel a lot better about my choices. Good luck with WFH during Easter break this week. I'll tune in next week to find out who survived. LOL

  6. The witcher sounds good. I've been thinking of watching Mean girls, because my brother recommended it and he never recommends girly shows so it must be good. I got around to everyone's blog late today, as I was driving lyft earlier today.

  7. Oh gosh, all I want to do is eat and sleep these days. LOL I am trying to focus on reading more. April has been off to a good start, so we'll see how things go! Good luck with Easter break. I hope your little one can find some things to do to occupy himself!

  8. I also had a book-buying spree last month and NEVER got to reading any of them. Part of it is because of the things going on right now. And your house must feel like bakery almost everyday!

  9. Oh I totally get you about the dangerous 1-click... I literally just got FIFTEEN books on Amazon because Entangled Teen has put a bunch of their books for free and I just couldn't resist! Lol.

  10. I'm the same! I seem to be buying all the books but not really reading any! With the news about Boris, I'm even more anxious now. I just want to sleep for a month as I'm totally run down and stressed out. It's probably a good thing that I don't bake! I do have plenty of unhealthy snacks in the house though...

  11. Mmm...I could just eat some banana bread right about now. We baked cupcakes last week as it's about the only thing I know how to do. I'll have to experiment with some more recipes. We're on Easter break now too, but we haven't been out of the house for two weeks already so nothing is really different. Thankfully because I work in a school I'm not expected to do any work over the break. I'm managing to find lots of fun things to do with my daughter at the moment but who knows how long it will be before the novelty wears off.

Love your choice for song of the week. Have a great week!

  12. Ooh, banana bread muffins, yum :-)
I made pizza dough successfully last week and a couple of courgette loaf cakes (just like carrot cake, but with grated courgette) which were good. Sadly flour is one of the things that is sparse in the supermarket right now or I'd be baking a lot more. Probably for the best diet-wise!
