Covid-19, lockdowns and all associated chaos... I'm just going to leave it at that because I can't talk about it anymore. I love my house but I'm currently sick of staring at the walls.
I'm tempted to paint them just for giggles.
On a happy note, the little dude's birthday celebration to feed the penguins was just before the UK government started implementing restrictions so we had a lovely day out to the Oceanarium and for fish and chips at Bournemouth Beach.
That's pretty much the highlight of the month!
In March, I read 11 books.
My favourite book of the month was Hunting Fiends For The Ill-Equipped by Annette Marie but that was one of five five-star reads this month!
My least favourite read was probably Alice's Adventures in Wonderland but even that has its charm.
I have various reading challenges this year and, once again, I'm happy with the progress I made towards them.
Audiobook Challenge is at 4/20
New Release Challenge is at 8/30
Retellings Challenge 1/10
Bookish Resolution - Shut Up & Read It 1/16
Still haven't got to any of those super old NetGalley books. Oops!
Bookish Resolution - Nuke Netgalley (pt.2) 3/21
Bookish Resolution - Read The Series 1/12
No new series complete but I knocked another two off the Mercy Thompson series so I'm happy with this!
Bookish Discussion Challenge 1/10
No new discussions. To be fair, I only needed to post one to meet the minimum of this challenge so I'm not too bothered. I'll post more if/when inspiration strikes!
Quite a few movies watched this month!
Horrible Histories: The Movie - Rotten Romans
(Utterly random but kinda funny as well as educational in a very irreverent way.)
Sister Act & The Mighty Ducks
(Nostalgia trip on Disney Plus.)
Solo
🌻
As for TV, I finished S1 of Picard and loved it!
I am happy you actually got to celebrate your son's birthday, and what a fun way to do it. You are killing your backlist. I always read more new releases than backlist, but at least I am finally reading some of them
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the backlist books. There's no pressure with them. :)
DeleteI’m glad your son was able to celebrate his birthday :) Mine will be a dull affair later this month.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your reading accomplishments in March, wishing you an amazing April
Thanks! I hope you still manage to celebrate even if you can't go out... Maybe a mini celebration then a big one when the restrictions let up!
DeleteLove the pic of your little guy feeding the penguin. What a cutie! Eleven books for the month is awesome. I haven't checked my numbers yet but I'm fairly certain it's nothing like that. And 26 blog posts is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the blog posts! It didn't feel like I posted almost every day!
DeleteAww, look at the penguin! I’m glad little dude had a fun birthday. I hope you have a good April!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I imagine April will be spent locked in the house but I hope for more good books and some good TV/movies to see us through! :)
DeleteYour son is lucky. My son's birthday was day before yesterday and all we could do was facetime. It really sucked.
ReplyDeleteHappy April, stay safe!
That's so sad! I really feel for people at the moment being separated from their loved ones and being unable to celebrate special occasions. :(
DeleteThat is such an adorable picture! I'm glad your son got some time to enjoy his birthday!
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm glad your son was able to celebrate his birthday before all the lockdowns. I'd LOVE to feed a penguin too. lol I didn't read a ton of books in March - such a crazy month. I'm hoping that I'll get better with this new normal in April and be able to read more, etc.

I'm so glad your son got to celebrate his day. I'm seeing all kinds of inventive ways to celebrate out here. Mostly involving neighbors with signs singing on the sidewalk lol but I even saw on the news a magician that did a whole performance across the street from a house.
ReplyDelete"March kinda blowed" Yes, it most certainly did. I'd say yay! for April but...
Karen @ For What It's Worth
So many 5 stars reads in one month is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping April won't be quite as scary as March, but I'm feeling pessimistic about it. Thank goodness for books to hide ourselves in!
Yeah March was a month of total stress for me but I'm a bit more settled into my routine now and not in a state of terror about going to the shops! I love penguins! Meeting them at Boulder Beach in South Africa was an awesome experience!
