It's Wednesday!! House of Earth and Blood & The Darkest Star

Happy Wednesday you lovely bookish people!
I've found a new (to me) meme called Shelf Control and It merges beautifully with Can't Wait Wednesday! Celebrating the books already on my bookshelf alongside highlighting the books I'm looking forward to in the future!

I don't really like previews but I was on the fence about Sarah J. Maas's new series so gave the preview a read to help me make up my mind as to whether to read it... And I'm in! Now, give me the book!!

#1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas launches her brand-new CRESCENT CITY series with House of Earth and Blood: the story of half-Fae and half-human Bryce Quinlan as she seeks revenge in a contemporary fantasy world of magic, danger, and searing romance.

Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life—working hard all day and partying all night—until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She’ll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.

Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.

As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City’s underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion—one that could set them both free, if they’d only let it.

With unforgettable characters, sizzling romance, and page-turning suspense, this richly inventive new fantasy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom—and the power of love.

What are you waiting on this week?

When seventeen-year-old Evie Dasher is caught up in a raid at a notorious club known as one of the few places where humans and the surviving Luxen can mingle freely, she meets Luc, an unnaturally beautiful guy she initially assumes is a Luxen...but he is in fact something much more powerful. Her growing attraction for Luc will lead her deeper and deeper into a world she'd only heard about, a world where everything she thought she knew will be turned on its head...

#1 New York Times, USA Today, and internationally bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns to the universe of the Lux in this brand new series, featuring beloved characters both new and old.

I got an ARC of this forever ago (okay, back in 2018).

As I said, I got an ARC of this and it's another one I started but put down before finishing. It wasn't the book, it was very much me. I hit a slump and never finished it.
Now, I'm ready to read it again, get it reviewed and off my NetGalley, and then hopefully proceed with the rest of the series!

  1. I haven't read either of those, I hope you like them.

  2. I really loved The Darkest Star and I thought The Burning Shadow was even better.

  3. I haven't read any Maas yet but I'm hearing good things about this series so far.

I think I read The Darkest Star but don't remember what I thought lol

  4. I an eager to hear what people have to say about the new SJM. I don't know, the book is massive. I don't think I have it in me to read it.

  5. I did the same thing with The Darkest Star for some reason. It's also on my Must Read Soon backlist ARCs list. :-)

  6. I hope you get the chance to enjoy both books soon!
