Weekly Update #93

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

I never thought I'd say this but I'm actually glad to be going back to work!
I love having time off work and seeing family but I need my normal routines and rhythms back. Everything is all off and it's making me itchy and tweaky!
I haven't been able to watch the shows I want to watch - because there's always someone around - and I haven't been able to read the way I'm craving to - because there's always someone around - and I haven't been able to be online and do the things I want to do because - you guessed it! - there's always someone around! So, here's to normalcy come Monday!!

In other news, Happy New Year!
We had a quiet one at home and had my son's best friend staying with us for the evening.

I've been thinking a lot about what I want to achieve in 2020 and I'm both excited by the possibilities a new year brings and utterly overwhelmed at how impossible some of the things I want to do are... I think I'm going to break goals into bite-sized pieces. Bring in some of that training I've had and instigate SMART targets... But I need some alone time and brain space to think about it so maybe by the end of January, I'll have a plan! ๐Ÿ˜†

So freaking awesome!

Sorry guys, I've been awol again this week!
Will catch up this week.

Don't throw stuff at me - because apparently, it's a sin or something! - but I'd never before watched the Indiana Jones movies.
This week, I watched all four (yep, including the Crystal Skull).
The first one, I enjoyed. The second one, I despised. The third one, I really enjoyed. The fourth one was ok.
Still don't understand what all the fuss is about though... Or all the hate and drama towards Crystal Skull after the horror that was The Temple of Doom.

I went to the cinema and saw the Little Women movie and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was a really lovely film.

I also finished my Big Bang Theory re-watch and don't regret working my way back through all 12 seasons. It was worth it.

Love this guys voice and this song is so pretty. (But doesn't really kick off until about 1min in!)

If I get the chance, I'll also finish off the Why I'm Weird Tag or another random post I'm working on and post that too.

(On a side note, I bought my husband the Nathan Pyle book for Christmas and it's awesome.)

Have a great week all!

  1. It's been eons, but I loved the Mythos series. I don't know if I would be itching to go back to work, but visitors really do throw a monkey wrench in my day-to-day. I can understand wanting some routine back, because, well, I am all about routine.

    1. Back to work was brutal! After the past week, I'll happily go back to be driven to distraction and madness by visitors! :(

  2. The good thing about living with my dad is that after our evening meal, I go upstairs to read at 6pm and my dad watches films or plays games downstairs so we get our own space!

Ironically, the Temple of Doom is my favourite Indiana Jones film!

    1. Really? Temple of Doom?! This is why I love 'iconic' films... Everyone has an opinion and everyone thinks a different one is the best one. I probably wouldn't have minded it so much if it wasn't for the screeching blonde! She royally did my nut in.

  3. Count me in for the let's-go-back-to-work-and-return-to-normal club! Holidays are fun but oh my goodness do they wreak havoc with my routines and productivity.

Smaller goals always seems a lot more do-able than big, broad ones.

So fun to see what you used your gift card for! :)

I remember seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark at the theater when it first released in the early 80's. That one was always my favorite. The third one was pretty good but I didn't like the Temple of Doom at all. The female lead was so annoying and overall the movie just missed the mark for me.

I've never heard of Tom Walker before but wow what a voice!

    1. Yes! The squawking blonde ruined that movie! (Or made a bad movie worse...)

Tom Walker is fairly new to me too. I've been hearing him on the radio for a while but never knew his name but now I'm slightly obsessed with his voice.

  5. I'm not ready to go back to work at all. I travelled for most of my break and could definitely use a few quiet days at home. Oh, well. I like Indiana Jones, but it has been years since I've seen them. Happy reading!

  6. I'm also going back to work tomorrow - but there are so many odd, momentous things happening in January, that I don't think I will be resuming my usual routine until the start of February... I hope you have a great week, Nicci and that your normal routine resumes smoothly:)

  7. I do love normal routines again, especially when favorite shows are not being preempted for something else...sigh.

Enjoy the upcoming week. Your books look tempting!

  8. I swear reading this makes me thing I was reading something I wrote. I can't wait for the normal and have so much I want to do in this new year but overwhelmed I wont be able to do it. :)

I hope we both can accomplish everything we want this year. Have a great week, Nicci! Happy Reading!

  9. I've seen those movies but they never did anything for me. Indiana Jones was a big deal back in the day but there are better movie out now a days.

  10. It's great to break goals into bite size pieces. I'm also trying to do that. That and think about how to add value (to others) on my blog and just a lot of what I'm doing.

  11. Nicci I had to wait for the end of the song before posting because...I wanted to listen to it whole! I swear that we should go to a concert together as we have strikingly similar tastes in music! Have fun with the Annette marie's book! I want to begin the Taming the demon LOL

Oooh Sophie! I can't wait to see what you think of Zylas and Robin! I think that I love them even more than the mages and Tori! (the other Guild Codex series.)

  12. I hope you are able to get back to your normal routine soon! We had a quiet New Year's as well, which was nice. I hope you have a Happy New Year!

Your new books all look so good! I hope you enjoy them. My husband loves the Indiana Jones movies. I like them alright, but they aren't favorites. I am glad you finally got to see them!

    Have a great week, Nicci!

  13. The 3rd Indy movie is my favorite!! I loved that one. The 4th one was trash. I was never a fan of Temple of Doom either. But I LOVE 3rd one.
Hope you are back on schedule soon! I am dreading returning to my routine!

  15. Indiana Jones was way before Desert Storm and shit but at the time, Harrison Ford was a hot and sexy hero that women swooned over *shrugs Idk, other than that, I have no idea what all the fuss was about . I liked the raiders of the lost ark but I was not into sequels, however I do remember the others weren't as good. I was still young :) I also liked Romancing The Stone

    1. Harrison Ford WAS pretty attractive... But Indiana was an ASS along the lines of James Bond so I didn't like that.

  16. I am totally with you on someone always around. My daughter and I were talking about it on the way to her med appt because her dad is here and she's been hiding out in her room. He's my ex and I haven't been hiding! But he is doing lots of handyman stuff so it hasn't been all bad.

I love Annetter Marie and there are 2 now from the Spellbound ones with Tori which I am waiting for the audio. I just listened to Taming Demons and loved it and could read the next book in KU but the audio will be out in about a month so can I wait?

Have a great back to normal week and enjoy your reads!

  17. There's something to be said for getting back to normal routines, I agree. Our decorations came down today and while it's bittersweet- I love the holidays- it's also nice to get the house back to normal. Not that I'm looking forward to work lol!

The annette Marie books look fun!!

  22. I agree that it's hard to get on with "regular" life when extra people are around. Not that we don't want to visit, but routine is nice too. :-)

  23. I don't even know what to say to any of this Indiana Jones stuff. The trilogy was so amazing! Yes, trilogy because Crystal Skulls doesn't count. My mom tricked me into watching and even though I had no idea it was about aliens before we started it way back when it came out I told her that if the skulls had anything to do with aliens, I was going to be PISSED. You can imagine how annoyed I was when I found out she lied when she told me there were no aliens, lol.
