I'm structuring my monthly recaps a little bit differently this year so that they encompass more than just reading challenge progress but since I didn't really do much in January, there isn't much to recap!
In January, I read 10 books.
My favourite book of the month was Druid Vices and A Vodka by Annette Marie but it was a super hard choice between that and Helen Hoang's The Bride Test (which was wonderful!).
I have various reading challenges this year and I'm happy with the progress I made towards them.
Audiobook Challenge is at 2/20
New Release Challenge is at 3/30
Beat The Backlist is at 5/80
Retellings Challenge 0/10
Bookish Resolution - Shut Up & Read It 1/16
Bookish Resolution - Nuke Netgalley (pt.1) 0/16
Bookish Resolution - Nuke Netgalley (pt.2) 1/21
Bookish Resolution - Read The Series 0/12
(No complete series but I started on reading The Mercy Thompson series so I'm happy!)
Outwith the first week of January (when I was still off work from Christmas), I haven't watched any movies. However! That first week of Jan, I watched all four Indiana Jones movies for the first time and I went to the cinema to see the Little Women movie which was lovely.
🌻
Tv watching was much more productive.
I finished the Big Bang Theory re-watch we'd embarked on at the end of last summer, and binge watched all four seasons of The Good Place.
We also started Good Omens and S2 of You (but I haven't finished either of those yet) and made a little more progress with Lucifer S3.
I posted 20 blog posts in January.
In future, I'd hope in this section to pull out the posts I'm most proud of (like discussion posts or something) but January was a month of reviews with a couple memes thrown into the mix and nothing that particularly jumps out at me for sharing again... Maybe next month I'll finally write a discussion post and/or have some family adventures to share!
🌻
I think I'll remember January as the month of Vesta.
The month may have sucked she has settled in beautifully and her personality is really shining through... She's a wonderful lapcat (and reading/computer companion) so she fits right in!
That's it from me. How was your January?
I'm so sad The Good Place is over....
ReplyDeleteI hope February is a better month for you!
It was such a fun show! Our binge watch turned out to be perfectly timed as we caught up right as the final episode hit. :)
DeleteHaha, I love the gif. Sorry your January was rough. I hope you have a great February.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Thanks! I really hope February is better too!
DeleteI'm with you in telling January good riddance! It wasn't a stellar month and it seemed to last forever. Here's to a better February for us both. The Bride Test was so goo. I just loved Esme and Khai. And it looks like you're already off to a good start with Beat the Backlist.
ReplyDeleteBetween beat the backlist and the new release challenge I can't lose with whatever I read! They tick off a challenge, lol. :)
DeleteI hope February will be a much better month for you. Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteI am all about the lap cat. I like cats in general, but I want to be loved back. My cat growing up slept with me. He was the best! I hope Feb is good to you, my friend. I will admit, that gif had me cackling. You did amazing with your challenges. Five backlist books! Fantastic! I love Hoang's book, so I am happy to hear you enjoyed TBT.
ReplyDeleteJanuary was kinda rough around here too. I hope February is a better month! Happy reading! :)
ReplyDeleteI think you've had a good start to your challenges in spite of limited reading time so well done on that! You're doing better than me on watching stuff! I was determined to watch more this year but January has passed with no progress at all! I'm glad the cat has settled in nicely as that can always be a concern. I would love a furry companion but it is never going to happen sadly!
ReplyDeleteYour cat is adorable, and I love when they like to snuggle! Mine does too! Sorry January was pretty dang awful though. I'm not really a fan of the month either. But it's over now and hopefully some fun things are headed your way. Great job on your reading, and on your challenges!!
