I want to keep things pretty simple this year and not get too caught up in reading challenges... But I also like having reading challenges to focus my reading. *le sigh*
There are also a few things I want to achieve with my reading so...
This year. I'm signing up for:
I upped my target on this challenge last year so I've selected a number that should really be a challenge for this year!
🌻
🌻
If I'm not reading backlist, I'm reading a new release so it makes perfect sense to join this one too!
If nothing else, it'll act as a good reminder to actually read new releases since I'm diving deep into the backlist next year!

2020 Bookish Resolutions - hosted by Berls & Michelle at Because Reading
The Rules:
Create between 3 or more resolutions (with longevity as it's a year-long challenge) related to books/book blogging/writing
My Goal:
Not in volume but some are quite specific and need explaining.
I'll link here once it's live.
🌻
The Rules:
There are a few (to keep the posts on topic) but the general gist is to write book-related discussion posts. As long as the posts are about books/reading you are good.
Check out the sign up post for full set of rules.
Target:
1-10 - Discussion Dabbler
I am a complete noob to discussion posts (well, writing them at least) so this one really will be a challenge for me!
🌻
And last but not least...
🌻
Oh okay... Squeezing in one more because I LOVE a re-telling!!
The Rules:
Read re-tellings! Any and all re-tellings!
Target:
"Warrior Princess" (6-10 re-tellings)
🌻
And that's it!
I know it seems like a lot but - with the exception of the Discussions Challenge - all my choices allow me complete freedom with my reading selections and they also complement each other!
Many books will count towards more than one challenge.
I'm excited to see if I can achieve it all!
🌻
What, if any, challenges have you signed up for this year?
I'm not signing up for any set challenges this year except the Goodreads one. I'll just be doing my own personal challenges with no rules and mood reading! I'm not even picking books to read in advance, just reading what I feel like on a day!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan! I feel like with the ones I selected, I'll pretty much be able to do the same as everything will count towards one of them. :)
DeleteGood luck with all these challenges. I am not *officially* doing any backlist challenge, but I have been trying to work more and more into my weekly TBR. I think I get through most of my backlist via audiobooks, which I now love listening to.
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy just to get caught up in all the new ones that it's easy to neglect all the others. I'm glad you've found a way to work them in.
DeleteHave fun.
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan!
DeleteYou've signed up for a lot of challenges! I've only signed up for the GRs one and the Audiobook Challenge, but maybe I'll do the Beat the Backlist, too, because I have so many I need to get to. I don't think I've done one discussion post as a blogger, they seem so tough for me. Maybe I should shoot to try one, too. Good luck on all your challenges, Nicci! :)
ReplyDeleteIt seems like a lot but they allow me to read whatever I want, whenever I want, and that's what I was shooting for. :)
DeleteThe discussion post will kill me. I already know it'll likely be a fail, lol
Good luck with your challenges, Nicci! I haven't have done any the last couple years (other than just setting a goal at Goodreads).
ReplyDeleteSometimes challenges are counter productive for people. GR is always good though. I like that it tracks everything for me in one place. :)
DeleteI THINK I'm going to make all of my challenges this year, with the exception of the Discussion Post Challenge. I kept forgetting to write discussion posts, even though I have a handful started and saved in my drafts. Hopefully, I'll do better this year. Good luck on your 2020 challenges! I still need to do my post for this...

I doubt I'll do well with the discussion challenge one but I'll give it a try!
DeleteWell done on your 2019 challenges!
Good luck with your challenges! I didn't do any in 2019 and kinda liked the freedom from worrying about it haha, but they do help me focus my reading too so I keep going back and forth. I should do the Discussion post challenge at least since I want to do more of those this year.
ReplyDeleteI like that these challenges are essentially effortless ones (except the discussions) for every book - no matter my mood - will fit into one of them! :)
DeleteGood luck with your challenges! I'm doing Goodreads and Armed with a Bingo.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Armed With a Bingo! Good luck!
DeleteGood luck with your challenges! I’m signing up for about six challenges I think..Goodreads of course, and my two ‘standards’ the Australian Women Writers and Aussie Author. I’m hosting the 2020 Nonfiction Reader Challenge this year, and I’m adding the Historical Fiction Challenge, and I think the Social Justice Challenge too.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! That sounds like a lot. :)
DeleteI don't sign up for any reading challenges but did make a goal to read at least 100 books which I did.
ReplyDeleteWell done on reaching your 2019 goal, Mary!
DeleteI'm thinking of paring way back on challenges this year. Of course, I'll be doing the Discussion Challenge, but I'm not sure what else. I need to find one for backlist review books.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're joining us for the Discussion Challenge! I always figure that even if it encourages people to write one or two discussions, it's a win! :-)

One or two may be exactly what I produce but since I've went for 1-10 it'll work! 😂
