Well, I took the week off blogging and it was nice! Only, I didn't really take the week away from the blog but instead didn't post anything that wasn't scheduled which allowed me to catch up on reviews I hadn't written (which had been bugging me) and to focus on the HoHoHo readathon.
I'm sorry that I didn't get as much commenting done as I hoped but I'll be back on form soon...
As for non-blog related stuff, I had a sore throat and cold this week which sucked.
It didn't surprise me as it's going around and I always fall ill when I'm wiped out but it was a bit annoying as I had a few activities this week... The coldy/throat thing didn't stop me attending or enjoying them though!
First up was the Festival of Light at Longleat Adventure Park. We'd visited in the summer but this was a whole different shebang as it wasn't about the animals but the lanterns.
They were so cool!
Here's a little teaser of some of the images and I'll be sharing more soon.
Can you believe these are just LEDs and coloured silk stretched over metal frames?!
The other event I had was my project's Christmas meal.
It's super early for Christmas meals but my right-hand woman started her maternity leave on Friday so we had the meal that night to ensure she could be there. If we waited until December baby could have arrived and ruled her out.
It was an absolutely lovely evening. My team are incredible at what they do but the fact they're lovely people and we all get along so well on a personal level makes team nights out special and not the obligation some work-related events can be!
We also got some free bonus bubbly for being an "early worm" of the party season so there's always a silver lining! (Even though I felt too ill to want any!)

Two books read during the HoHoHo Readathon with another I hope to get finished today!
Not too shabby...
Coming Home To Glendale Hall - ebook - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Christmasaurus - audiobook - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I've been a good girl and even written my reviews for them which I'll post in December!
The Big Bang Theory rewatch has been derailed by Young Sheldon.
We'd never watched Young Sheldon but it's so funny so I'm so glad we now have 3 seasons to binge!
Some more Lucifer was also on the cards this week. Season 3 seems feels like the season that never ends (there's like 26 episodes!) but I'm still enjoying it.
Memes: Bookmarks, Book Lunches and Heirs of Chicagoland!

I'm trying to get ahead on stuff now so I can just relax through December and know most of my posts are ready to go and I can concentrate on fun stuff off the blog, and also stay caught up with visits and comments! That Festival of Light looks really gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe Festival of Light was amazing! Visually stunning. I had such a good time!
DeleteGlad to hear you had a nice week "off". It's kind of fun doing an early holiday celebration. One team by me did their Friendsgiving the other day, and my team is doing it this upcoming Thursday, but heck, we always have food on my team. I liked Good Guy. I was a fan of Meader's previous hockey romance series, and this is a spinoff. Hope you like it.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Good Guy! It's been ages since I've read a sports romance.
DeleteHope you're feeling better. :) The Festival of Light seems so pretty. *.* I really want to watch Young Sheldon. I've watched an episode here and there, but it's not a series I'm following.
ReplyDeleteHappy readings! ;)

The Festival of Light was gorgeous!
DeleteLove that you got to see festival of lights. We have a few things similar in Minnesota. I'm mostly looking forward to seeing holidays plays, perhaps the Nutcracker and something at the Guthrie theater.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the Nutcracker!
DeleteI hope that you're starting to feel better. The Mister has been dealing with a nasty cold all week and I just keep waiting for me to catch it.
ReplyDeleteI'm still coughing all the time but generally much improved. :)
DeleteThat's a really good idea to have the Christmas meal early to make sure she could be there. My husband and grandson both had colds last week. something sure was going around. Hope you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteIt's the season for it, I guess! Hope your husband and grandson are feeling better!
DeleteI participated in the HoHoHoRAT last year and really enjoyed myself! I was sick at the start of this one, and now 2/3 kids are sick, so very little reading time for Mama! I don't have any December review copies, so I plan on using the rest of this month and next to catch up and write reviews -- so behind after being sick. Like you, it makes me bananas.

Oh no! Hope they're feeling better now!
DeleteUgh, colds are the worst. I hope you feel better soon. I'm doing the HoHoHoRAT but I do hope to start getting some Christmas/Winter reads in. :)

HoHoHoRAT was fun!
DeleteYuck to being sick. Hopefully you're feeling better now. My husband has come down with something (a head cold maybe) and has been sleeping in the guest room so hopefully I don't catch it. The Festival of Light looks lovely! And the team Christmas dinner sounds like a good time.
ReplyDeleteYuck indeed!
DeleteThe Christmas dinner and festival of light were both awesome fun and worth pushing through the lurgy for!
Wow- beautiful images! Looks really nice there. and breaks are good- I've been doing that a bit lately, slowing down just a tad to not get burned out. I was a huge fail at the HoHoHo though lol. Just didn't happen!
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better!
I was happy with 2 for the HoHoHoRAT. I crashed and burned at it last year.
DeleteSo sorry that you've been sick - it's always miserable when you've got things to do. I hope you feel a lot better in the coming week. That Festival of Light looks magical and your early Christmas meal sounds fun. It's lovely that you have such a brilliant team around you at work - it makes allll that difference! Take care, Nicci.
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful!
DeleteGlad to hear that you enjoyed your week off and that it was so productive. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun.
DeleteSorry to hear you came down with a sore throat! That's how it started with me and then I was really sick for two weeks! Still have the lingering cough, but much better. Hope you feel better. I'm still binging on The Big Bang Theory but I'll have to watch little Sheldon when I'm through. He really makes the show!
ReplyDeleteLoved The Good Guy. Hope you do too! :)
It turned into a cold or the cold followed straight on from it... I'm not sure. Either way it sucked but I'm feeling better now. :)
