Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

Halloween is coming! Halloween is coming!
How exciting!
I love this time of year.

I don't have any particular Halloween-themed reads I'm going to be indulging in but there are quite a few tv shows that seem appropriate for the season that I haven't seen (or caught up on the latest yet) thus I'll be getting my binge on!

I'm giving away a $10 Amazon giftcard to one winner so they can treat themselves OR you can choose a book (up to the value of £/$15) to be delivered via The Book Depository.

Giveaway is open internationally (but Amazon/Book Depository must be accessible to your country).
Entrants over 18 years only.

Join the hop!!

  1. Hi Nicci, if it's scares you're looking for then the scariest film I've ever seen (several times) is The Descent. Still makes me jump!

  2. My scariest book recommendation is Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. I used to read that series of three books to kids at school. Spooky!

    1. If it was read to kids at school then I could maybe - just maybe - handle that level of spooky... Unless it's high school then I'm probably too much of a coward!

  3. Wish I had some recommendations but I am such a 'fraidy cat when it comes to scary movies. I used to read a lot of Stephen King, though, and some of his really creeped me out. Like The Shining and Bag of Bones.

  6. We always watch Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas! It's also fun to watch some old Goosebumps episodes. The new movies are okay, but the older show was spooky! Also, Are You Afraid of the Dark?!

Have you read The Lantern's Ember? <3

The Goosebumps tv show is something I remember from when I was a kid (as is Are You Afraid of The Dark?) and they used to creep me out something fierce.

  7. I don't really read Halloween books but if you haven't seen the Conjuring movies, I would totally watch those for Halloween. I love all those movies.

  8. I don't think I have any good suggestions, but I really want to watch some scary stuff before Halloween so I need to get with the program! :) Ooh wait I know- The Chernobyl Diaries! It's kind of scary, although not too much. I did a Movies That suck post on it, it was okay.

  10. Like Sara above, I recommend the original Halloween. Also, Aliens (the second installment) was scary! It still puts me on the edge of my seat so many years later. Sleepy Hollow, the one with Johnny Depp, is another good one. Wonderful giveaway, Nicci! :)

    1. I can say that I've seen the original Halloween (back in my teens) but I'm too much of a coward to ever rewatch it.

      Sleep Hollow is awesome!

  11. Ooooh I should def check out Good Omens :) I do love Charmed (the original series) and I have a few of the original paperback books. I still want to watch the new charmed on Netflix!

    1. I love the original Charmed! I keep waiting on one of the streaming services to show the new one over here... I'm not sure I'll be happy with it (too soon for a reboot!) but I still want to watch it before making up my mind, ya know?

  13. The only films that still scare me now are Demons one and two. The appearance of the demons freak me out! My favourite book scares are always zombies so I recommend The Morningstar trilogy by ZA Recht, Arisen by Michael Stephen Fuchs, Eli Constant's Dead Trees and also Z Children, and Nicholas Sansbury Smith's Extinction Cycle.

I try not to watch too many scary things because I have an overactive imagination but The Dead Files (on Hulu) is amazing and will definitely give you chills and want to sleep with the lights on at night!

  58. I am not a big fan of scary reads, but I think any paranormal or fantasy book is always great during this time of the year or a fun cozie mystery. I even have read a few Halloween themed cozy mysteries, I think I still have an unread one on my list too. We rewatched Tremmors recently, which I think would be a nice movie for this time of the year as it's horror comedy. Thanks for the giveaway!
