Weekly Update #78

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

I'm pleased to report that I got on top of work and housework this week!!
It's been a tough one, because I've been really tired this week, but I pushed through to get all the things that were annoying me and dragging me down finished and it felt amazing.
Like a mental weight lifted.
After that, I was able to catch up on and blog comments (some were weeks old!) and actually put some effort into planning some posts.
Fingers crossed I can keep going!

This week's adventures saw Athena go missing and come back looking like she'd been dipped in mud then rolled through twigs and leaves!
I was so happy to have her home and safe but sorting out the state of her coat was an experience!
I didn't grab a pic of her before we cleaned her up but I got an after shot!

We also got a sunflower!
As in, we've been attempting to grow sunflowers for three flipping years and this year we actually had one open! We have a load of others getting ready to shine too so I'm so happy!

This was a weird reading week!
I have three books (two ebook and one audiobook) almost finished but didn't finish any of them!

However, I did finish the audiobook I'd been listening to at the beginning of the month (it had less than two hours left!) So I did finish something this week... And next week I'll likely be reporting a bumper crop!

Rick Riordan audiobooks have been my travel companions since January and I love them!
This series is quite different from his Olympians but still has all the qualities that make his books so awesome. I'm so excited for the next one!
(It's a good thing then that we own all of Riordan's published works in more than one format, isn't it? ๐Ÿ˜†)

Kindle Unlimited

I've never read CN Crawford before but this cropped up in my recommendations and I like the cover and the blurb so... Why not!

This is 100% my last Christmas arc. It is. It really really is. I can't take any more! They're sitting on my kindle and freaking me out with the amount of festive cheer that awaits me because I'm not in a festive cheer kinda mood yet! Give me pumpkins!

Make Me Fall is for a blog tour. It's a enemies-to-lovers and fake relationship in one. I'm looking forward to it!

99p Sale

Circe was Amazon's deal of the day on Wednesday and I couldn't resist!
I have no idea when I'll read it but I have it for when the mood strikes.

Amber asks WTF is YA?
A Tackle Your TBR Readathon kicks off Monday, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings!

Strictly Come Dancing is back!!
Autumn has definitely arrived now peeps! That's it. Countdown to Christmas.
I'm so excited...

Oh, and we're still on our Big Bang Theory rewatch... I imagine we will be for quite some time.

Hello Autumn!

Have a great week all!

  1. I have a ton of things needing doing in the house! I have SIX bags of books to donate which I'm falling over! On the bright side my food and cleaning cupboards are fully stocked for winter! I LOVE sunflowers and want to get some in my garden once we get all the work done. We accidently grew a monster sized one over ten years ago from parrot food from a neighbour that we used to feed the garden birds. I'll need to try and find the photos at some point!

  2. Yay, someone else with an unread copy of Circe!! I've been promising myself to get to this for months, but keep being more tempted by other books instead. I think maybe I'm concerned I won't love the story as much as seemingly every other blogger has!

  3. You had such a productive week! I've tons of stuff needing doing in the house and I don't even want to talk about work and classes... It leaves me barely any time to blog. Or breathe. :( Athena is so pretty. *.*

Happy readings and wishes of another very productive week. ;)

  4. Sounds like you will be very busy during autumn. Where are you taking all the energy? *smile* I feel so down lately, that all my plans for autumn have been put on hold. Wishing you a wonderful weekend and a great new week.

    Best wishes

  5. Great job on getting caught up. I'm planning to split my time between housework and the blog today. It's a struggle! :)

  6. Oh gosh, I don't even want to look at my house right now. I've had bronchitis and or the after effects for almost two weeks and everything has suffered.

I grabbed Dark King a few weeks ago, it was recommended by one of my fav authors so I just had to! And the cover...holy crap.

  7. I'm glad you got your cat back. That's a great looking sunflower. I like them but they attract too many bees. lol

  8. Yay for getting on top of all your work and your cat coming home safe. Also, I love sunflowers. I love audiobooks for my commute. Happy reading!

  9. I'm on the tour for Make Me Fall as well. I enjoyed the previous book in the series and am excited to figure out what these two are up to with their fake relationship! Sorry the cat got into such a mess. That is a sucky thing to have to clean up. Especially with cats who aren't fond of baths!

  10. I always feel fantastic when I'm finally on top of things! This week has been rough since I've been sick, and I feel like I'm slowing sliding down the Slope of Doom. I'm almost to the point of no return. I finally read a little yesterday, posted a blog post, and I'm spending the kid's nap time catching up on comments. I've got a load of laundry going, but my energy is nearly spent. Maybe I should take a nap too? ;)

I really loved Circe! I hope you have time to read it soon. <3

  11. I am so happy to read all these great news Nicci! And I can't wait to hear your thoughts about Dark Night! It also popped on my feed and the cover is gorgeous!

  12. We have had similar weeks - I also have been so tried and way behind on blog comments. I did not catch up with any of my weekly meme comments until Thursday and some were two weeks old. But I have gotten in the habit of preparing posts for one month ahead of time so that has helped. Here's to a good week of reading!

  13. Oh it's so great to get on top of things - a fantastic feeling. We have to celebrate those victories. I am more caught up but still feel like I have a lot to do. I can't take any Christmas ARCs because I don't want to read and review them until after Thanksgiving, pretty much December. Plus they are mostly romances and I'm selective about romances. I'm excited about Taming Demons for Beginners. I have the audio coming for review which is later, but I am very excited! Have another excellent week with some good books!

  14. So glad your kitty made her way home (though it sounds like it was a lot of work to clean her up!).

  15. Athena is beautiful and her coat looks beautiful and fluffy after all her muddy shenanigans, lol. Yay for finally getting your sunflower! We had a similar wait for a Meyer lemon tree. :)

I have a bunch of Christmas ARCs too! I don't know how this happened, but maybe because the publisher started rolling them out super early this year? There seemed to be an abundance of them. I'm reading one now which is weird since it's 90 degrees (Fahrenheit) out right now. I feel Fall just now coming on. Hope we both love all of them.

  16. Yay for getting all caught up on so many things. I feel like I stay behind these days, lol.

  17. I know you had to push, but didn't you feel a real sense of accomplishment, when you wrangled your housework and blogging? Gold star for you. Your cat is so pretty, but apparently wily as well.

  18. I'm glad your cat made it back okay! That can be scary when we're not sure where they are. And yay for the sunflower too! :)

Hope your week is a good one.

  19. Sounds like it was a great week for you, and your post reminded me 8 need to get up and vacuum right now.

Have a great reading week, and enjoy that glorious sunflower

  20. OH MY GOSH YOUR CAT IS SO ADORABLEEE!! PLEASE GIVE HER A HUG FOR ME ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’“ I remember when I lost my cat and it was during a typhoon. Luckily, he came back the next day but surprisingly, he was SO CLEAN. He's got a white fur with 2 gray spots but not a single dirt on him lol I don't know how. Anyway, I'm happy your cat's back and safe! What a pretty fluffy lady ๐Ÿ’›

Circe was an interesting book even though I have mixed feelings over it. Still, the book actually stayed pretty close to Circe's story in mythology. And I think the author fleshed out Circe's personality in the book as what the mythology portrayed her to be.

  21. Aw, I'm glad your cat is okay! What a cutie pie. :-) Congrats on getting on top of work and things. I need to get on top of blogging ahead. LOL

  22. Beautiful.

  23. My reading is just in the gutter right now lol

That kitty situation sounds stressful. I'm glad she's safe and sound.

    Your sunflower is gorgeous!

  24. Congrats on getting so much accomplished this wee Nicci! I love when I can check things off of my mental to-do list! I'm so happy for you that Athena came back! What a beautiful sunflower! How fun to see the start of you're garden blooming! Hope you have a wonderful week Nicci :)

  25. So glad you found your cat! How stressful!
