Weekly Update #76

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

Blah. That's been my week.
The little dude went back to school, which went fine.
I went back to a normal work week (except Monday) which was sad and because all I did was fight fires all week it felt exhausting.
Some nights, I just binged comfort tv and on others, I binge read books.
The internet, finishing blog posts and visiting, fell off the radar as I just didn't have the energy or motivation. 😞

The plus is that I've already matched the number of books I read throughout the entirety of August!
A whole four!
😂

Bad Fae Rising - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
One Fae In The Grave - ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2
The Paranormal PI Files is getting better! The action is intensifying, secrets coming to light and I'm looking forward to see how it ends but won't read book 5 until book 6 has a publication date as book 4 ended at a point I can handle and I don't want to risk a cliffhanger or a tense wait.

The Bearly Tamed Grizzley ⭐⭐
This one just wasn't for me.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

YES!!!!!! I got one! I actually got one! And I read it and I loved it and now I'm back wailing into the wind because I need to wait another month for more Guild Codex goodness and almost two whole months for more of Robin and her demon! 😭

ARC

Oh, how long I have waited for this book! For more Guild Codex!
I'm so grateful for an ARC. I didn't think I'd get one!

Kindle Unlimited

I was in an UF mood so continued with Jenna Wolfhart's Paranormal PI series.
The Bearly Tamed Grizzly I saw reviewed recently so grabbed it for a quick read.

99p

I don't really read historical romance these days but once upon a time I used to read a lot of it.
This author is highly recommended so I thought I'd snap it up while on sale and give it a try!

Free

This has been on my KU tbr since Tanya first mentioned it so when I saw it was free, I had to snap it up!
(Don't know if it's still free, it was on Thursday...)

Dani asks: Reader, Bookworm or Book Blogger?

🌻

Sign-ups aren't open yet but when they are, I'm in! Always up for some UF/PNR... You can keep the spooky scary stuff! lol

Big Bange Theory rewatch!
We're up to S5 now.

The week did not go to plan! Again.

Review: Grave Ransom by Kalayna Price
Family Adventures: Neolithic Sites, Fancy Houses, Ghost Villages & A Theme Park!
Reading Challenges: August Wrap Up
Cover Reveal: Slaying Monsters For The Feeble by Annette Marie
Review: The Best Thing by Mariana Zapata

Who knows!
The only thing scheduled is...

Mini Reviews: Brave The Tempest & Sweep of The Blade!

Have a great week all!

  4. Sorry to read your week has been as good as you'd hoped. Those weeks definitely are the worst.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the new week will be much better. :)
Have a great week and happy reading!

  5. Oh boy, work weeks like that are so tough. You're jumping from one crisis to another and yet getting very little of the day to day stuff accomplished. I sure hope this week is better. I'm so excited you got Goodnight Nic! Now the pressure of recommending a book sets in... LOL

I hate the recommending pressure... I can relate. :)

  6. Hey, yeah for reading so many books. That's a great way to soothe after a tough workday. You had a nice schedule this summer. I would be sad about going back to regular hours as well. (PS the book is still free on Amazon US)

  7. Doesn't it stink when life gets in the way of all the fun stuff! I hope this week is less busy!
I just started reading a few of Jenika Snow's books and I love them. She reminds me a lot of Madison Faye.

Have a great week, Nicci! Happy Reading!

    1. Housework, work, life... It all sucks. I wish someone would pay me to potter about doing the things I want to do, lol.

  8. I am sorry you had such a blah week and hope this coming week will be better. At least you got in some reading time! Hopefully all the fires at work have exhausted themselves out and you won't have so many to deal with in the near future. I had a rough week and this week will likely be similar. It's a difficult time of year for me with the anniversaries of my father and grandmother's deaths. That combined with other things.

Jennifer Wolfhart's series sounds like a lot of fun. I bet I would enjoy that one. Taming Demons for Beginners looks good as well! I hope you love it. I've heard good things about Tessa Dare's books too. I haven't tried her work yet though. Here's hoping for a great week this week! I hope you have a good one!

    1. Taming Demons For Beginners was fantastic!
The Jenna Wolfhart books are worth a read but aren't fabulous.

I'm sorry that this time of year is difficult for you. I hope you find comfort and distractions!

  10. I do love binge-watching things. This week I found some old Mary Tyler Moore shows on Amazon Prime and I'm laughing away at the dialogue. And hair styles. I found some old photos of me with a Mary hair style (in the 70s).

Thanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your week.

  11. The shortened work week made everything hectic coming back, right? It did for me too. :/

Oh, so excited the new Annette Marie spin-off was a hit! I start a new Annette Marie audio tomorrow and I can't wait!

    1. Yep! I'd say it made the 3 day work weeks not worth it but they were totally worth it... It's work that needs to go do one, lol. Why can't someone pay me to pursue my pleasures? :-D

I hope you enjoy the next Tori book! You get to meet the Druid!

  16. My little dude has also started school, and our days have become very challenging. He's used to taking a nap every day, which isn't something he gets at school, so the fussiness is in FULL FORCE when he gets in the car after school. The whining alone is enough to make me grind my teeth. I'm trying to be patient while he adjusts, but ugh. It's hard. He also doesn't have a lot of time to play once he knocks out his homework and we have dinner. :(

I'm sorry work has been stressful! You should just start dressing up like Smokey the Bear and see what happens.

    1. Oooh, that's quite an adjustment! I was lucky that my little dude had quit the afternoon naps before starting school.
Fingers crossed he settles into the new rhythms soon!

  19. Ok, so it's not just me with a case of the blahs. I'm fighting to pull myself out of it.

Hope we all have a better week!

    1. Yeah, it's pretty typical of September at my work as everyone comes back from their holidays and goes all nutty and super proactive then all the stuff that fell through the cracks from summer creeps up and you've got to sort it out and it's just one thing after another... Sigh.
