Weekly Update #75

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

Well, this week has been a bag of mixed things!

Last Sunday, I was so busy getting organised for the little dude going back to school (uniform shopping etc) that I forgot to link up (I actually forgot all my link-ups this week!).
Then, I got sucked into boring housework and didn't get a chance to visit your blogs but told myself it was ok because I'd catch up Monday...
But Monday was a bank holiday, and really hot, so we went for a walk in the forest then came home and had a water fight in the garden, then lay in the garden to dry off, then jumped on the trampoline and then vegged in front of a movie so I didn't get a chance.
But, it should have been okay because the little dude went to his grandads Tue-Thur so I should have had plenty of time in the evenings to finish posts and visit blogs and get organised...
But work was a demon and when I wasn't there late - or logged in at home late - I was zonked so I did nothing but eat, sleep and have mindless junk on tv for background noise.

Not so good.

On Thursday, I logged out of work around 9.30pm and felt like I fell over the line to the weekend... But couldn't relax then either because I had to get packed and organised for our trip to Cornwall!!
We left at 7am on Friday... I was so tired.
But the good news is once we hit Cornwall we had a lot of fun!

We visited Bodim Jail, Eden Project and Carlyon Bay.

Not a bad way to round off the holidays which have been pretty awesome and activity-packed this year.
Today, I plan on vegetating and finally catching up on everything I've missed around the blogosphere the past couple of weeks... Oh, and food shopping because people insist on eating.

Tomorrow, I plan on getting everything sorted for the little dude going back to school on Tuesday and seeing where our day takes us... It may be chilled or we may squeeze in one more adventure.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hard to believe I didn't devour this one when it released in November but I didn't, I waited. Now that Sapphire Flames is out, it got read!
It was pretty good. I enjoyed seeing Nevada and Rogan again but it was particularly awesome to see Catalina step up. I can only imagine what she's going to be like a few years later!

Kindle

My pre-order arrived like a good little preorder and made me happy.
I so badly wanted to read it but I was too flipping tired or busy... Maybe this week!

eARC

I promised myself no more ARCs or holiday-themed books but the cover hypnotised me!

I have nothing. I've visited no one. I'm so sorry!
I'll catch up.

Still on a Big Bang Theory re-watch!

Ha! This week was a hot mess!
I forgot to hit publish on one of my reviews (sorted that out today and it's backdated to when it was originally scheduled) and I didn't have time to finish my family adventures post.

  1. Oh, I'm totally getting my kid ready for school too. It started with a hair cut and a backpack, orientation with the bus driver and teachers. Lots of questions and spontaneous meetings.

    1. Ah, the hair cut. My kid hates getting his hair cut so that's always fun! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. I resemble your week. I keep getting distracted by even more things I need / want to do. I'm happy for the routine of school. Have a wonderful week and hopefully not as tiring (see my 4 hour nap in the middle of the day last Wednesday) because Sapphire Flames is amazing! Enjoy!

  6. Our real lives often get in the way of anything else and I'm sure everyone understands because it happens to all of us.

  7. My goodness me you did have a busy week - and your trip to Cornwall sounds wonderful, it's one of my favourite places... I've always wanted to visit the Eden Project and never yet managed it. I hope the back to school event goes off smoothly - I know both my grandchildren are looking forward to going back. Have a great week Nicci and thank you for swinging by:)

  8. Great cartoon! LOL.

Good job staying away from ARCs...for a bit. I am trying to do that, but when one comes along that calls to me...well, that's impossible to resist.

    Enjoy your week!

  9. It's okay if you skipped last week. You sound like life was very, very busy for you.

    Have a lovely week!

  10. Phew, what a week! I completely understand not being able to get to blog-related stuff when you're that busy. I mean, it's not like I posted a ton this week either... And anyway, family comes first.

I had cut way back on ARCs, too... and then I sort of went crazy requesting for a few weeks. (Well, sort of crazy. I mean, there's crazy and there's CRAAAZZZYYY. I requested two or three per week, not ten per week. But it still adds up!)

My ARCs are creeping me out. There's so many. I want to run away from the pile... Hangs head in blogger shame.

  12. Sorry you've been so busy. That's just the way things go sometimes---you think you have things all planned out and then ... they don't work out that way. Oh well, on to the next week. :-)

  17. I'm so jealous of all the things you've been doing this summer! I didn't get a single day trip done this year again and there is still too much to do around the house and garden! That cartoon is sick and twisted...I love it! I'm supposed to do the food shopping this week but Amazon are sending packages so I need to be in for those!

  19. Getting back into the swing of things with back to school is always such a whirlwind so I can understand forgetting to do all of your linkups, lol. I'm glad to hear that you had a wonderful time once you finally made it to the weekend and your trip though. Hope your upcoming week is a great one!

  20. It sounds like you had a great week - except for the demon work part. My guy goes back to school tomorrow, and we just got home from school shopping. :) Have a great week!

  21. Sounds like you had a busy but nice week. Sometimes real-life gets in the way of blogging, and that's totally fine! Glad to hear you enjoyed Diamond Fire. I hope you love Sapphire Flames as much as I did. I'm now dying for the next book of course. My husband and I were listening to the audio version (re-read for me as you know) on our car ride back and forth to Northern California. We're back home right now, and I just wanted to keep listening!

  24. Your week sounds a lot to take in but having time for yourself sounded pretty good too! Okay I'm excited to read your family adventures post especially the Neolithic Sites part because we're tackling this right now in school and I'm curious about which sites you visited.

  25. Sounds like your week (well, week before last... I am quite late in responding) was a blur. I've done so little blog hopping in the past week (my life revolved around the hurricane) and now I'm pitifully behind. My poor inbox is buckling under the weight of so many email notifications. Love that cartoon!! :)

  26. OMG that sounds like you´ve been busy as heck. I know that feeling. As soon as you on a little vacation, even if it is only a weekend out of your normal routine and place, you change. You feel much better, more energized and everything is pure fun. Glad you had such a great time.
