Weekly Update #73

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

Last Sunday, I pretty much hit post on my Sunday Post and then packed some bags and climbed into the car to head up to Alton Towers theme park for three days.
We met up with the professor's mum and siblings (who'd travelled over from Ireland), stayed in a rented holiday cottage and generally chilled and caught up on goings on (hadn't seen them since Christmas) in between hitting the park and walking until our legs fell off.
We got home Wednesday night and I was back at work and pretty exhausted through to the weekend, where I went on a comment binge trying to catch up on all I missed including visiting Sunday Posts from last week! Sorry for those I missed!

As well as catching up on the interwebs, I've been catching up on work, chores and all the other things in the outside world too so the weekend has been devoted to recharging so we're ready for some more random holiday adventures this coming week!

In other news, I've been spotting Halloween decorations hitting stores so I'm getting super excited for autumn... Just two more weeks of summer holidays to go then summer is officially dead to me and my autumn happiness commences! 😆

⭐⭐⭐ 1/2

I liked The Best Thing but I didn't love it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Julien and Monroe were freakin' awesome. I 100% fell in love with the pair of them falling in love.

One of only two Katia Rose books I haven't read so I nabbed it. 😊

We've been catching up on S2 of The Dragon Prince on Netflix.
The professor and the little dude love it but I'm less enthralled... It takes forever to move the story along!

Have a great week all!

  1. I always look forward to a holiday in Blackpool, getting away from cooking and cleaning and being somewhere I love. But when I'm there I'm on the go all day every day and always come home tired-and with a big pile of chores waiting for me! It's never restful on a good holiday!

  3. Your week sounds so exciting! And ever since last week of July, we have had stores with Halloween Costumes 😂 In Puerto Rico, you don't really see much of a difference in seasons. It's always summer weather and beach time 💃🏾 😎

  4. Sounds like your are enjoying your time. It sounds weird, but this year I can´t wait summer to be over. After last year´s one big heat wave we´re having more of a April weather summer this year. Oh yes, Halloween *smile* Enjoy it.

  5. Ohhh you're so lucky you have In-laws from Ireland. I'm gushing right now. Having Irish heritage, I 'so' want to go Ireland. If you have a chance pick up "In the Company of Others" by Jan Karon. Jan Karon writes a series, and in this one the priest goes to Ireland to reconnect with his ancestry.

  6. I’m glad you had a great time... I often feel that with any holiday away, you need equal time to recover.
I laughed at the Morticia meme too :)

Wishing you a great reading week

  7. Theme parks are fun, but exhausting! Sounds like a nice family trip, though. Bummer about the new Zapata! I was hoping for something really good. I got a copy too. We'll see. :)

  9. It doesn't start cooling down here until October so I won't be feeling Fall for a little while yet. I'm glad you all had such a good time.

  10. It sounds like you had a good week. I'm sorry your read was a bit of a disappointment. That always puts a bit of a crimp in my week.

Hope you enjoy your reads this week!

  11. Nicci it is such a relief to see that I am not the only one liking the Best Thing but not loving it! I have finished barely two hours ago and if I loved Jonah and Lenny I think it was sometimes too long. Dragging at some points or lacking some suspense or ...I don't know really.

  12. What a busy week! Going right back to work after days at a theme park... you are in far better shape than I. LOL I was in a home decor store yesterday to buy some artwork frames and not only did they have Halloween items out but... wait for it... yes, Christmas decor. Gah! I am still howling at your graphic at the bottom. I can so relate! LOL

  13. Sounds like you had a busy week! I've seen Halloween items out in the stores, too. First I'm getting Christmas books to review in August and now I'm seeing Halloween stuff. It feels like everyone is trying to rush the year away. Oh well, I hope you have a great week :)

  14. Glad you had a lovely holiday - and I understand that you are looking forward to the cooler weather, while I'm absolutely dreading the onset of winter:)). Have a great week - I hope it is a bit more relaxing.

  15. Haha summer IS almost over and it'll be fall soon, which I love. And your getaway trip sounds fun!

Love that last graphic too. :)

  16. You have been doing so much this summer. I don't will have done that much this entire year. Glad to hear it was a good time. I hate the way stores jump so far ahead on holidays and seasons. One of my co-workers was unable to find beach toys in June, which is like the beginning of the season, but she could find back to school stuff. So annoying.

  17. That sounds like a super fun week! And hurray for Halloween decorations! I hope you enjoy your new read! I haven't heard of The Dragon Prince but I'm definitely going to have to look that up.

  18. I didn't go anywhere fun, but I have spent the last week recharging! I haven't been blogging as often, and I've only been reading for pleasure (my ACOTAR re-read!!). It's been a nice break. The kid started school, the girls and I are adjusting to days without him, and the house really needed to be cleaned out! I went through clothes, cookware, etc. and made a huge pile for donation. Phew! I feel better already. :)

  20. What a fun week! I saw Halloween decorations here when I was out today. I just want the weather to be just a little cooler. So I am ready for autumn. I've heard great things about Mariana Zapata but never read her books. I'm just glad to be home myself and catching up on blogs. Have a wonderful week!

  25. Ooh what a fun getaway. That's great you were able to catch up with family too. Going away does make you behind on EVERYTHING, which can be stressful for sure. haha
