Another good week this week!
Monday the little dude and I hit Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and on Friday the professor took leave and we all went on a National Trust adventure to Avebury Ring and various other neolithic sites north of Stonehenge. It was fun.
The days in between were spent at work and the little dude went to his grandad for a few days.
He had a blast and the professor and I enjoyed the quiet evenings and got some non-kid friendly tv watched which I've actually missed!
I've got another busy week of stuff planned with summer activities and work but I hope to get a few books read, particularly the new Zapata!

Kindle Unlimited
I love it how Zapata doesn't have a massive build-up to her releases! She tells you it's being edited and it'll go live soon and then she posts links at some point.
It's an awesome surprise, like a special treat, when you find out it's finally available!
Freebie
I think it was Tanya who highlighted this one was free on Amazon (don't know if it still is) so I nabbed it! Loren is an author I've wanted to read for a while.
eARC
I've officially banned myself from NetGalley. Over the past few weeks, I've acquired more festive books than I know what to do with! I didn't expect to get approved for them all!!!
The next Bout of Books sign up is open! I've decided I'll be joining in on this one as I'll be reading books that week anyway so why not?
In the past, I always found some nice new (to me) bloggers to follow too.

I finally finished season 2 of Lucifer while the little dude was away!
I liked it. I'll definitely be moving onto season 3 next.
This is an older song but a new one for me and I really liked it!

I saw this online and laughed. I had almost this exact conversation with a friend not too long ago! |
You're certainly doing well for summer activities! I plan to be in lazy mode next week unless I can get out and paint that fence!
ReplyDeleteGoing strong! Two weeks left of stuff until school starts.
DeleteRoni's book isn't free anymore 😭 Your week sounds fantastic! I'm glad you all had fun :)
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
Aw, that sucks! Sorry. :(
DeleteI would say, your week was definitely better than mine *lol* Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHooray for a bit of adults-only time. :) I'm so glad you were able to get The Ones Who Got Away while it was free! I really loved that one and it's still my favorite in the series. The thing about the tan is so funny. Absolutely *everyone* is more tan than me. I am very fair/pale to start with plus I avoid the sun like the plague. LOL
ReplyDeletePeople don't realise how pale I am until they see my legs... They're so pale they're almost bright white, lol.
DeleteSounds like you are having a great summer. I love adult time. We rarely get any but when we do we usually like to eat and take naps lol. 😂
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week, Nicci! Happy Reading! xx
I need so many naps at the moment! I'm so tired!
DeleteGlad to hear you all had a good time. I love Lucifer, it's such a fun show.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me laugh a lot. I'm really enjoying it.
DeleteGlad you and the little dude are enjoying summer!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's been lovely so far.
DeleteI can't believe you haven't read Loren yet. I love her stuff. The Ones Who Got Away is probably my fave from this series. I hope you like it.
ReplyDeleteI know! *hangs head in shame*
DeleteWe've been doing so well with the weather this year - Fort Nelson is not so much fun when it's pouring with rain:). Glad you've been able to take the little dude out and about and that he is now off visiting. We now have our grandson visiting, too:)). Have a great week, Nicci.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Did it rain when you visited?
DeleteI hope you have fun with your grandson!
Nicci I bought Mariana Zapata's book too!!! Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think? I finished it a few days ago and I'm trying to work out how to review it...
DeleteOoh those neolithic sites sound amazing. I hope to do a tour and see some of the ones in the UK someday.
ReplyDeleteI like the Sia song.
They're very cool. I'm lucky to live near Stonehenge so we have a lot of them close by. One day, I'd like to see the callanish standing stones on Lewis... They look so cool.
DeleteYou are going so many places. So jealous. I had my eye on When You Were Mine, and now I really want to read it. Glad it was good for you. Read the Loren book. That series is excellent.
ReplyDeleteWe're busy bees this summer for sure! It's fun but I'm so tired.
DeleteYou should totally read When You Were Mine! It was such a lovely book.
You did have a great week, and nice that you got some adult time, too. I'm really looking forward to the new Zapata book, as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI love Zapata but Luna and The Lie and The Best Thing haven't quite hit the spot for me...
DeleteWhat a fun week you had! You got to visit so many wonderful places. Our summer has come to a close--at least my daughter's summer break has. School starts again tomorrow, can you believe it? It's way too soon.
ReplyDeleteI need to ban myself from Netflix. I really really do. Ugh. I have a number of holiday themed books I hadn't expected to be approved for either.
I like that Sia song too. :-)
I hope you have a great week, Nicci! Happy Reading.
I'm looking forward to later in the year when I can settle down to read some of those holiday books!
DeleteI've only seen seasons 1 & 2 of Lucifer (I think lol) and I really enjoyed it. I'm currently finishing up watching Charmed so I may move on to Lucifer or Sabrina. It sounds like you have a ton of awesome activities planned! Our summer already ended but I did try to fit in as much as I could, it just never felt like enough.
ReplyDeleteI also borrowed Zapata's new release! I'm so excited for it. I saw on instagram there's a new book club for KU subscribers. It's @ku_bookclub. I decided to follow just because I really need to use my KU subscription more.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Tina @ As Told By Tina
Oh, old Charmed or new Charmed? I love old Charmed but haven't seen the new one yet as it isn't on any of my streaming services. :(
DeleteSabrina I'm saving for autumn but I'm looking forward to it.
I'll check out the KU book club! I spent a long time not getting any real value out of KU but since June that's really flipped. There's so much choice now!
It’s so cool that you got to visit Stonehenge! I used to have a photo of that as my computer desktop. I’d love to see it in real life someday. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
We live really close to Stonehenge so have visited many times... Plus, drive past it a lot. :)
DeleteI guess I had requested a few books awhile back on Netgalley.
ReplyDeleteI requested one yesterday and got approved overnight - yay! But then a few of the older ones (tthat I dont' remember or want to read naymore) also got aprroved :-((( lol
Karen @ For What It's Worth
I really dislike it when that happens!!
Deletehahaha that's exactly how I tan!! Sounds like you has a most excellent week with your touristy visits with your son and some time spent with the professor!! I love when there is a perfect balance in my world. ❤️ And YAY to Lucifer! I'm so glad to hear you love it so much. I've heard good things. We really need to give it a go.
ReplyDeleteWe're getting round so many places this summer! It's fun.
DeleteLucifer is awesome. I recommend it.
All of your adventures with your little dude sound like so much fun! It's great that he gets to spend some time with his grandad, and that you get some down time with your husband. I love spending time with my daughter, but also look forward to when she spends time with my parents and I get the much needed "me" time. I like Roni Loren's books. I haven't read the one you got, but I hope it's a good one! Have a great week Nicci :)
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
We're having a lovely summer! I'm so tired though and part of me is really REALLY looking forward to autumn.
DeleteI'm glad you're having a great summer with your son, and husband too of course! I really want to start watching Lucifer. I've seen an episode or two, but I'm trying to finish up iZombie on Netflix first!
ReplyDelete-Lauren
www.shootingstarsmag.net
I need to watch iZombie at some point! There's so many shows I'd like to see but not enough time... Much like books!!
DeleteYour summer adventure with your son sounds a lot of fun plus you learn something which is a big bonus!
ReplyDeleteThere's really not much noise from Zapata's side when she's about to release a new book. I got the info from my friends two days after the release lol. I already started The Best Thing and currently on chapter 2 but I put it on-hold because I decided to start Luna and the Lie first. Wanna get to know Lenny better from another person's POV.
I must admit that neither Luna nor the new one have been favourites of mine but I still love her books.
