This week was a lovely week!
Lets see... We started the week with a trip to Fort Nelson and Portchester Castle then Tuesday through to Friday the little dude attended holiday club in the mornings and then spent his afternoons doing various things like attending a family fun inflatable day (lots of bouncy castles and the like) at a local farm, had a play date with friends, and had a massive village water fight on Friday (which is an annual event).
I'm so tired!
A book I'd been looking forward to for forever released which was exciting and I've already read it which is sad because now I'm waiting on the next one. Again.
(First world problems of a bookworm right here.)
I was also a bit naughty with the request button this week and true to form got accepted even on titles I thought would be refused! Oh well...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I'm so happy. It was so good. I'm super excited for the next instalment.
I'm going to re-read my favourite bits until they're burned into my brain permanently 'cause that's how I roll.
⭐⭐⭐
It was short but it was good. I'll definitely check out the first two books in the series now, especially since they're available in KU.

My pre-order delivered at midnight and I did a happy dance!

This is a super short novella and Sara Ney is a RARE 2020 author so I want to read more of her.
eARCs
Rick from the Kitty Norville series gets his tale told!
Yes, there was a Christmas eARC last week and here is another one for this week!
Oh look! Make that two new Christmas books... I know, I know! I feel shame. It's summer! 🙈
I love the cover and can't wait to start reading the book!
Evelina talks bout The Greatest Book Blogging Myths.
Sophie has an awesome discussion post on why we don’t see pudgy and lazy male MC in romance stories.
Alys discusses different reader types over at Alys in Bookland.

The little dude is an Attenborough acolyte and history fiend so without his term-time bedtime, he's had plenty of time to work his way through Planet Earth II on Netflix as well as S1 of Great British Castles.
Pretty much an episode of each most nights.
I figure it's doesn't take any more time than watching a movie, is entertaining, educational and family friendly so why not? It's not like I can finish watching Riverdale, Stranger Things, Knightfall or Luther while he's around!
We did manage to watch Alita Battle Angel which was cool and not what I was expecting.
Blitz: The Good Guy by Kate Meader
Reading Challenge: July Update
(I got tired and didn't write the post in time. So I'll post this coming week instead.)
Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Are Linked to Specific Moments In My Life
Family Adventures: A Trip to Longleat Adventure Park!

Mini Reviews: Live Fae or Die Trying & Dead Fae Walking
Bookish This or That
Can't Wait Wednesday!
Review: Grave Memory by Kalayna Price (Alex Craft #3)
Family Adventures: Portchester Castle and Fort Nelson!
Glad you had a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh you're going to be at RARE? :D
That Karen Chance book looks like it's right down my alley!
It's a crazy series and each book gives you whiplash but I like it. :)
DeleteSounds like the little dude had so much fun! Also I highly recommend the How to Date a Douchebag series by Sara Ney! I love it!
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
I've added it to my list as well as the Jock Row series! :)
DeleteSounds like you had a great week, Nicci! And can you believe I had forgotten all about Cassie Palmer? I actually need to read book 8 - so I'll be in for a treat, right?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead and happy reading:)
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookworms
Oooh nice! Chance is out of contract now but will be self-pubbing the remaining books of the series and apparently book 9 will release in December so I'm excited!
DeleteIt sounds like you had a really fun week! :) It sounds like your little guy had a ton of fun!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Christmas books are already on sale! So bonkers to think about that!
I hope you have an equally great week ahead.
I know! Christmas gets earlier every year! I actually saw cards in a shop the other day.
DeleteYou had such a busy and fun week :) Unearthed seems quite interesting. I will have to take a look at it.
ReplyDeleteHappy readings!
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
I love UF so I'm always up for trying a new series!
DeleteA lot of those holiday books sound great-xmas in August-what fun!
ReplyDeleteI know! I usually try to avoid Christmas until after Halloween but oh well. :)
DeleteNicci thank you for featuring my post! And should I talk about the 19 books that I bought/got at YALC??? Maybe you would feel less guilty :-)))
ReplyDeleteOn another note if one day I visited you in England we would absolutely have to go to a concert together because each time I come to you Sunday post and you feature a song I add it to my list on Deezer :-))))) Have a great week!
Lol, 19 books isn't TOO bad?
DeleteGlad I'm helping to populate your playlists! lol
Great haul! Sounds like you had a good week! I loved Evelina's post and now I'm going to check out the others you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI like mini-reviews! Probably should try something simular as I often don't have time to post long reviews.
Have a wonderful week!
Sometimes I just don't have enough to say for a 'full' review so they work really well for me. :)
DeleteSounds like an eventful and fun week! Your little guy is having all the fun, which is how summer break should be. I need to try Alex Craft. I got a little overzealous with my request it finger too. Now I have a lot of reading to do. Wish there were more hours in the day. :)
ReplyDeleteI need an extra (non-work) day tacked onto my week to keep up at the moment!
DeleteI was eyeing 25 Days 'Till Christmas, but I am so ARCed out, and am looking forward to getting through my September ARCs. After that, my load will be a LOT lighter. You're such a fun mom. Doing something every week would have me exhausted. Even when I was teaching and didn't work in the summer, I didn't do something every week with the kid. I sent her to camp. =)
ReplyDeleteI've now broken myself with ARCs. I'm banning myself from Netgalley.
DeleteAnd I'm currently exhausted! School holidays may be fun but I'm so tired...
A village water fight sounds like a brilliant idea for an annual event. Much better than the pea throwing championship where I grew up (I kid you not!)
ReplyDeleteWe visited Longleat recently, not the adventure park but up to Heaven's Gate for superb views across the estate :-)
Pea throwing?! That's worse than 'welly-wagging' (aka throwing welly boots.)
DeleteVillages do the strangest things in the name of tradition, don't they? :)
It sounds like you've had a busy week! And we're all a little naughty with the request button, haha. I'm almost back to 80%, so I'm TRYING SO HARD to stay away from NetGalley. It's a struggle just to post reviews on there without looking around. I have no self-control.
ReplyDeleteLindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? 💬
I was so close to 80% then I flipped it the finger and dove back into the depths of oh no... Nevermind, eh!
DeleteWhat a busy and fun week. The summer is going by so fast. A book I'd been waiting many years for finally released recently. Funny thing is I'm almost afraid to read it. I want to savor the excitement. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
I hate it when that happens! When you've waited years and you're scared to read it because you want to savour it and you're also scared the next one will be another several years away!
DeleteSounds like you've been busy. I only request 4 books at a time from NetGalley. Otherwise I would never be able to get to them all. lol
ReplyDeleteI've been very very bad... I'll pay for this later, lol.
DeleteHurray for being approved though! Haha! I hope you love all your new reads! I haven't seen Alita yet, but my husband just picked it up. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI have too many books. I feel very bad. But still... Book! :)
DeleteSounds like you had a busy week! Good to hear you enjoyed Brave the Tempest and Alita. Enjoy your books this week! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIt is always so hard waiting for new releases. Glad it was good and hopefully it won't be too long before the next. ;)
ReplyDeleteI hate the wait. I'm currently waiting on a few that are killing me!
Deleteoh fun week! I'd love to go to RARE but it's not happening soon with all the stuff for my daughter. OoOOOoo Rick's story! I've got to go look into it - I love that series. Have a wonderful week and maybe less tiring but all the good stuff is tiring.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart
RARE is my first convention. I'm so excited!
DeleteHaha I know that feeling when you wait and wait for a book, then it comes out and you read it so fast, and then... waiting again. So truee.
ReplyDeleteI love Attenborough. And Riverdale and Stranger Things too. :)
It's a true bookworm problem.
DeleteSounds like you had a fun, but exhausting week! Enjoy your books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou had quite the week. It sounds wonderful. The village water fight sounds like so much fun! Haha. Brave the Temptest sounds really good. I am glad you enjoyed it! So many good sounding holiday-themed books coming out this year! I hope you have a wonderful week, Nicci, and enjoy your new books.
ReplyDeleteI have so many books at the moment! I need an extra day of the week just to read them. :/
DeleteI love that Little Dude loves the history shows. 👍✨
ReplyDeleteI'll be looking out for your family adventures post. I love castles. 🏰
Have a wonderful week. 🌞
Raising him right ;)
DeleteIt's crazy and wonderful that Christmas books are already starting to pop up.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when I wait and wait and wait for the release of a book, and then the book arrives, and then I read it in two hours! I know that is what will happen with the Katherine Center book.
Have a lovely week!
I saw Christmas cards in a shop yesterday. It's all wrong.
DeleteOmg, Christmas books already! It really is August. lol Oh! Nice! I joined the blog tour for Unearthed. I can't wait to get started on it!
ReplyDeleteYep. It's all wrong.
DeleteI'm excited for Unearthed!
Sounds like you - and your son- had a lot of fun adventures last week. That's fantastic. And I love that your village has an annual water fight. :)
ReplyDelete-Lauren
www.shootingstarsmag.net
It's a quirky village. :)
DeleteSounds like you had a fun week! And yay for Christmas books already! I was just thinking that I needed to start looking for holiday ARCs.
ReplyDeleteI need to stop looking! I got approved for all the ones I requested! That never happens...
DeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful week! A village water fight sounds awesome!!! Unearthed looks like a great book. :) Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteIts a lot of fun.
DeleteA village water fight sounds awesome! It sounds like you had such a fun and busy week with your little dud. I bet he's so excited to get to go on all of these fun adventures! I got an eARC of Unearthed too, and can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
I'm so tired from all the adventures! But they are fun.
DeleteA fun, if tiring week for you and little dude.
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week
I'm SO tired.
DeleteQuite the week, how fun!! I get out of control with that request button sometimes too...and half the time wish I would not get accepted because I already have SO MUCH to read...
ReplyDeleteHooray for Secrets of Great British Castles. I will never not love Dan Jones.
We're loving the Castles show. We just love castles. We're lucky enough to live close to quite a few.
DeleteI think I could do with a couple of day trips! At the moment it seems to be all housework and shopping! At least the last two days have been cooler which is good!
ReplyDeleteI like day tripping better than being away for long periods.
DeleteThat's great to hear you had a lovely week! Sounds like you did a lot of fun things with your kid this week, but I can see why you're tired. It's always great when you can finally read a book you've been waiting for. I got my first Christmas ARC this week. Unearthed looks interesting. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you´ve had a lot of fun. Glad you were enjoying your time.
