Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at
Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read.
Generally, they're books that have yet to be released.
It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.
Brave The Tempest by Karen Chance
Pritkin! My lovely prickly war mage is back with his powers completely unconstrained! How excited am I?!!
I actually cannot wait to see what is next in Cassie's adventures, how the dynamic with her and Pritkin changes and I'm crossing every appendage I have that Mircea gets eaten in the Fae realm.
(Yep, I detest him, sue me Mircea shippers!)

Cassie Palmer has been the chief seer of the supernatural world for a little over four months. In that time, she's battled two gods, fallen in love with two men, and confronted the two sides of her own nature, both god and human. So it's not surprising that she currently finds herself facing two adversaries, although they have a single purpose: to wipe out the supernatural community's newest fighting force, leaving it vulnerable to enemies in this world and beyond.
To prevent catastrophe, the vamps, mages, and demons will have to do the one thing they've never managed before and come together as allies. Cassie has the difficult task of keeping the uneasy coalition intact, and of persuading her own two opposing forces, a powerful mage with a secret and a master vampire with a growing obsession, to fight at her side. She just hopes they can do it without tearing each other apart.
What's getting you excited this week?
Anything with vamps and demons, I'm all for!

It's an awesome series but super fast paced... It can give you reading whiplash, lol
DeleteI read lots of Karen Chance's books a number of years ago and then lost track of her. I think I need to start at the beginning and read them again!
ReplyDeleteAt one point, there was a HUGE gap between books. It was frustrating. She's been publishing regularly over the past few years and the wait will hopefully get even smaller between books (i.e less than a year) since this is the last traditional published book and she's finishing the series self-pub.
DeleteI have some of her books on my shelves but have not read one. This series does sound good and I can totally related to wanting the demise of a character (or two...or even three).
ReplyDeleteThe books are crazy fast paced. I don't find them binge readable but I enjoy reading them with steady breaks, lol.
DeleteI haven't read this author yet, but the book sounds good. I'll have to check out her stuff. Thanks for sharing and hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a series that grows on you. Book one was my least favourite by a mile.
DeleteI'm so behind on this series. I've gotta get back into it. I read the first three and enjoyed them.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot to catch up on! I need to read the Dory series as they seem to compliment/intersect each other but I've only read the first one of those, I think.
Delete"Mircea gets eaten in the Fae realm" lol. It's always nice when a favorite series gets a new book. Enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteI truly hate that vampire, lol.
DeleteVamps and demons, count me in. This sounds really good!
ReplyDeleteIt's a crazy series but I really do like it. It's not the kind of thing you can jump in at any point though. :/ Need to start at the beginning but that just means more bookish goodness, right?!
DeleteOooh! I love the cover of this book! Great pick!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my WoW!

The covers for this series are always awesome.
DeleteThis is the first time that I have heard of this one. It sounds like an interesting story. I hope that you love it! :)
ReplyDeleteSadly, Chance doesn't seem to be all that known/visable but she's fun.
DeleteOh I love books like this that combine the different supernatural types into one story! You may enjoy Fortuna Sworn too. I just read it and enjoyed it a ton. ❤️
ReplyDeleteThis world is nuts! Psychics, ghosts, vamps, demons, witches, mages, fae, time-travellers...
DeleteWhew, intense! Cassie has a whole lot going on in her life -- I don't know this series actually.
ReplyDeleteIt's a crazy series that you need a nap after reading lol
DeleteI never really took to the author when I tried her books many years ago though it was more about the MCs than any issue with the writing. I'm glad you're really enjoying this series though!
ReplyDeleteI didn't when I first tried them either which was when the first book released. However, I went back to them a few years later (I think when they'd hit book 4/5) and took to them quickly. Mostly because there was more of the mage Pritkin who is the best character in the entire series... Him and Cassie as a duo are hilarious.
DeleteI haven't read this author but this sounds like my kind of book.
ReplyDeleteThey're mad. However, they're super low on romance... Especially in the beginning.
DeleteI've been in to urban fantasy lately, and this looks like a good series! Plus I love the cover!

I'm loving UF at the moment! I mean, I always love UF but it's all that's really appealing to me at the moment. *shrugs*
DeleteFingers crossed that this lives up to all your expectations!
ReplyDeleteMine too! There's one big thing that could happen that would bring all the rage so I'm really hoping it doesn't! lol
DeleteWow, this sounds like it has the potential to be a really exciting read. I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteThey're usually fast paced and exciting but sometimes a little bit too much so! lol
