Gah!
One week, I'm going to come on here and only have good news/things to say but that week is not this week.
This week, I have either a really bad cold or an attack of mutant hayfever from hell and I genuinely have no idea which it is!
I ache, I want to sleep, I have no energy and I have all the snotty sneezy sniffles, cough, and sinus pain of a cold but no fever!
WTF is that about?
Cold and Flu remedy isn't helping and antihistamines aren't helping so I'm just going to be over here in a corner making everyone miserable until whatever it is buggers off and leaves me alone!
It's a shame, for my week was perfectly pleasant until Thursday when this hit, lol.
I had a trip to the escape rooms for my friend's birthday (on Tuesday) followed by some drinks. The kid got 'reader of the week' at school and it has been mostly sunny!

Wild Like The Wind - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yield The Night - ⭐⭐⭐
Wild like The Wind was a good one. I love Chaos but I'd held off reading the last two books in the series mostly due to nerves! I love the series and characters so much I couldn't bring myself to see them go through hell before coming out the otherside... I shouldn't have worried though. Hound's story was beautiful.
Yield The Night is book 3 in Annette Marie's Steel and Stone series and while I like the characters and the plot is interesting it lacks the spark of her Guild Codex series for me. I'll still finish this series though, I just won't be fangirling over it the way I am her mages!
I think it was Sophie who mentioned this on her blog last week and it sparked an urgent need to reread which I was all too happy to indulge... I love Ivan and Jasmine so much! The love doesn't fade with each re-read either!
Kindle Unlimited
It's not as good as the Guild Codex series but I want to see how it all plays out!
99p Sale
A little bit of historical fiction for when the mood hits!
I've had this on the watchlist for a while so was super happy to nab it for 99p!
I'm behind on visits again but I'll try get caught up this week!
The COYER Deserted Island Read-a-thon ended and I failed the challenge reading only two of the five books I'd selected. 😟

I watched a whole load of nothing this week with the exception of a couple episodes of Big Bang Theory. I have 7/8 episodes left of the final season and will be sad to see it go...

Review: The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan
Review: Three Mages and A Margarita by Annette Marie
Ugh, sounds like a nasty infection you've got. I hope it clears up quick. I hate feeling sick-it ruins my reading! They could cure the common cold if they wanted but they make too much money from us trying all these useless remedies! Grr!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are under the weather. I hope you can find some relief. I went to an escape room as a team building thing a few years ago. I had such a good time. They seem to be everywhere now.
ReplyDeleteI need to read Mariana Zapata! And girl, that sounds terrible :/ I really hope you feel better real soon!
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
I'm sorry to hear that you have been so zapped. It sounds a bit like 'a non-specific viral illness' to borrow a phrase from my family doctor! Meaning - they're not sure what the hell it is, but don't think they have anything to help... I hope you soon recover!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you've been so sick. I hope you feel better soon, Nicci. <3 Congrats to your kid on being "reader of the week".
ReplyDeleteHappy readings! ;)
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
Oh no, I hope you feel better soon. I had a sinus infection this week but the antibiotic my doc gave me cleared that up.
ReplyDeleteSeveral thoughts here! First I am sorry to hear that you are unwell Nicci! Second I am so happy that your re read of From Lukov With Love was such a success!!!! Then lastly I LOVE your musical taste!!! Another one to add to my list (after Hurts and ...) . Let's hope next week finds you less miserable and pain free!
ReplyDeleteI would love to attempt an escape room, it looks like such fun.
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week, and I hope you feel better soon.
Poor you, you sound miserable! I was all achy on Friday like how you feel when a cold is coming on, but nothing ever came of it so good riddance! Hope you get some relief soon!! One of these days I really am going to read something by Marianna Zapata!
ReplyDeleteAck! I hate it when you can't figure out if you have a cold/flu or hayfever. It's nuts!! And so not fun. This time of the year is the worst time to get sick. I hope you feel better ASAP. Here's to hoping this week treats you better!
ReplyDeleteOh I hate feeling sick so I hope you are much better - FAST! Looks like a good book haul so hopefully you can enjoy it this week!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
"mutant hayfever" lol. I hope you feel better soon! that's the bad thing about spring/ summer- all that stuff comes out!
ReplyDeleteYield the Night has an awesome cover! Her Mages series is one I've heard good things on.
I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope you are better soon! I love the Big Bang Theory. I hate that it's gone. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI do hope you start feeling better soon. I know head colds suck! I had a huge allergy issue a couple weeks back. First time I've ever had an allergic reaction in my life to eating any kind of melon. Apparently melons and bananas are a close food relation to pollen and just decided to kick my butt.
ReplyDeleteMy allergies are BRUTAL right now. I wake up with a sore throat from all the drainage, then spend the day sniffling.
ReplyDeleteI loved the big bang and thought the finale was perfect!
Hope you feel better this week!
Awww I'm sorry to hear about your flu/cold/bug. It can't be fun and congrats to your kid! I've always wanted to read a Kristen Ashley book. The cover with the bike and boot looks wild. Books can be hectic but I'm glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteJackie's Forget Me Nots
TBB finale made me cry & I never cry.
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon! It sucks that nothing is helping.
Karen @ For What It's Worth
That sickness is really going around. I had something like that about 3 weeks ago. I still have a lovely "smoker's cough" even now!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon!
Those illnesses where you can't quite figure out what's going on are the worst! Hope you feel better soon!! At least you got a fun trip to an escape room before the misery hit. :-)
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Sorry to hear you're sick! Coughing and runny nose is so miserable! Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI need to finish that Kristen Ashley series too. Glad to hear it was a win. :)
I love the Chaos Series and all books K.A. I haven't read Hound's book yet though. I hope whatever you have goes away quickly. My husband got the same thing late this week also. Being sick is no fun :(
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
I wonder what causes rereads to often be so much better than a first reading. A richer read, I suppose. I'm glad you enjoyed your reread of a favorite book.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you were feeling bad this week. There are always so many respiratory problems going around here. Hope you are back soon.
Have a good week!
I hope you'll feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I got a kindle last month because I hated the fact I could only get two Mariana Zapata books on my Kobo e-reader. I'm glad you enjoyed From Lukov with Love, can't wait to read it!
Have a great week!
I really hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteUh, that sounds terrible. Being sick is never fun, but that? Hoping you feel better now. I thought about signing up for the COYER Summer challenge, but missed the deadline for that. Maybe next year *smile*. Happy reading and thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy Annette Marie! I need to get back into her books. I'm not sure what to start with though... Happy reading and I hope you feel better now Nicci!! ❤️
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you were sick. I hope you are better now. I love that James Arthur song! Have a great week!
