Weekly Update #59

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

This week was one of those weeks that was busy, but busy with nothing in particular!
There just didn't seem to be enough time to do everything! It wasn't helped that I lost a day because of a frigging migraine but oh well...

The little dude has one more week of 'mini-marathon' prep and then he's off to run for his school on Saturday. It's only 2.3km (so about 2 miles ish?) but considering the ages of the kids running (the little dude is eight) I think it's pretty good going... Much more than I can do! 😆

I said I'd post pics of the hamsters so here they are! Or, here's one of them...

They're speedy wee buggers so quite hard to get a non-blurry shot and I've not managed to get both of them together in anything close to a passable picture yet either!
The little dude has named them Honey and Mustard... They look identical but their personalities are a bit different. Mustard is more timid than honey.

🌻

I've also started migrating a few posts over from my non-book blog as I give up on it... This is, I don't know, the third time I've tried to maintain a blog to talk about non-book related things and I'm finally admitting defeat. I just don't have the desire to run another blog in order to post occasionally about non-book related things. So, I'm going to just post those posts here. This is my little interwebs home and it's going to be the home of whatever I feel like posting.
(Which, 90% of the time is books/book related.)

If you're curious, I've migrated the following and back-dated them to roughly when they appeared on Sunny Buzzy Life.

Reasons to Watch The Musketeers
Thoughts on Captain Marvel
Thoughts on DC Titans - Season One
My Thoughts on Lego Movie 2
Thoughts on How To Train Your Dragon 3

Apologies if you follow on bloglovin' and had your feed invaded with them all!
That's everything over now...

⭐⭐

It was as awful as I feared it could be... But I was so hopeful it would be something better.
*sigh*
At least I managed to read it! All in one day too. Okay, so it wasn't very long but that's still progress for me all things considered at the moment!
Even if it was the written equivalent of a car crash... Good job I read it via KU otherwise I'd have been really mad at having spent money on it!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Grave Witch is book one in the Alex Craft series, the series I chose for the Read A Series In A Month Challenge.
I'm pleased to say that book one was awesome! I really enjoyed it. It's such an interesting world...
Phew!
I've moved straight onto book two.

I may have gotten a little 1-click happy...

I thought I owned all the books apart from the latest (book 6) when I signed up for the Read a Series in a Month Challenge but apparently I was also missing book 4... Which is random.
Although, when I come to think of it, I owned 1-3 from years ago and I bought one (must have been book 5!) on a 99p sale more recently so that would explain it...
Anyhoo, the entire series is officially on the kindle for me to continue with the challenge.

Kristen is talking about re-tellings over at Metaphors and Moonlight!
Tania talks books and mental health over at My Lovely Secret!

It was fun, not great but amusing and oddly touching.
The CGI Pokemon were awesome.

Have a great week all!

  1. I had two gerbils as a kid but neither of them ever went near their wheel for some reason! Rusty and Mischief I called them. I had so much trauma when they died that I didn't want any more. I think you did the right thing in merging the two blogs content into one as it will be less work to maintain it!

  2. I read your Sunday Post from last week - I know how you feel. It's been a little like that for me too. I think it's become a little overwhelming to handle all of it alone.

Cute hamsters! Love the names! Your kid is a star. I don't manage to run 1 km...

I think your non-book posts fit in just fine - you can just link to them in your menu bar!

I LOVE that you loved Kalayna Price's! I think you'll love them even more as you progress!

I hope you have a wonderful week. Don't let stuff stress you out!

  3. Migraines make it impossible to do anything. Once, I had to finish a paper with a migraine and it was hell. The hamster is so adorable. *.* Now, I really want to read Grave Witch. I just need to figure out where I shelved it.

Thank you for sharing my discussion post. <3

    Happy readings! ;)

  4. Migraines are the worst! Sorry! Hamsters are cute little buggers aren't they?! Hopefully you have a headache free week!

  5. I also have a non-book blog. I post on it like a diary, so it's not visible, but I love paging through it and reflecting on my young daring life.

  6. All your little dude updates made me smile. I hope he does amazing in his race, and Honey and Mustard are fantastic names! Gold star to him for coming up with that. I don't have the energy to maintain more than one blog. Lots of people do non-books posts, without going full on lifestyle.

  7. Awww. Thanks for sharing the hamsters. I love seeing them.

  8. I want a Guinea pig! But they are so big lol or a hedgehog! And that's so cool about the race. I'm going to be incorporating some lifestyle posts in my book blog :) I think it's great when people share their life in their book blog.

  9. It's your blog, post whatever you want on it. I know I do. lol The wee little hamster is adorable. Back when a petstore in the mall was going out of business, I bought the last hamster they had because I felt bad for it. A week later I had 5 babies. lol Momma turned out to be a bitch who bite everyone who tried to hold her but the babies were wonderful. I had to use work gloves to take momma out to play with her.

  10. Busy with nothing in particular describes my week too.

Have a great reading week, the Grave Witch series is on my want to read list.

  11. I love when book bloggers post non book posts. It's always interesting to me what else they have going on in their lives. And migraines, urgh, I lose days to them too, and am always resentful.

  12. I just ran my second half-marathon yesterday! I guess your little dude will probably do one eventually if he's already running 2 miles at 8 yrs old! Wow! I wouldn't be able to maintain two different blogs either. Yep, just post it all here, why not? :)

I want to give the Alex Craft series a try. I was just looking them up this morning so I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the first book! Happy reading Nicci! :)

  13. I am so sorry to hear that you had a migraine Nicci! And having two blogs would be too heavy for me too! Happy Mother's day!

  14. Hopefully next week isn't as busy, and you get to relax more. I can see how running two blogs would be a ton of work and hard to keep up. City of Wishes looks like it might be good. I've read books by Rachel Morgan, and really enjoyed them. Good luck to your little guy on his run! Happy Mother's Day!

  15. Honey and Mustard- cute names. :) I've always thought hamsters looked fun, but never had one.

I like just having one blog too. I toyed with having another one but decided... nah lol

    Have a great week!!!

  16. Oh I want to read that Kalayna Price series! It's been on my tbr a while. I finally read 2 of the 5 on my series this week. I think it's perfectly fine to bring your non-book stuff here. I do that stuff in my Sunday post but I can't imagine keeping up more than one blog.

Happy Mother's Day - I know you all celebrated back a bit. Have a lovely week!

  17. My kids didn't have hamsters, but they sometimes "babysat" their friends pets.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your week.

  18. I don't blame you, one blog is hard enough to keep track of. Two is too much. We had hamster for a while but they only lived a little over two years. We have guinea pigs now for the past 3 years and hopefully for a few more still. Have a great week.

  19. Aww, the hamsters are so cute! Handling more than one blog is a lot - I always admire those who can manage to do it. I think it's great to incorporate other posts into your book blog - despite starting out as a book blog, many of us grow and it's completely okay for blogs to grow and adapt with us as well. :)

  20. I completely understand about the nonbook posts. I’ve decided they are all storytelling in different mediums. Rationalizing on my part but I love seeing how a story changes when the medium it’s presented in changes. It’s that way for me when I’ve read a book and/or listened to a book. The experience with each medium is different.

I’m so glad you like Alex Craft, I just finished the latest book and they just get better and better with each book. Love the series! ❤️❤️

  21. Oh gosh, I couldn't run two miles - so that's awesome about your son. The hamster is super cute; love the names he chose! And I think non-bookish posts are fun sometimes!

  22. Running one blog seems like a sometimes impossible thing for me to do and you had two? Wow. Thank you for being honest and telling us that you are running now only one. I like having things in one place, no matter if it is all book related stuff or different.

  23. Good for your little guy! There’s no way I could run 2 miles! And I’m laughing about the names Honey and Mustard. Ha! Grave Witch looks interesting. I actually enjoy non-book related posts! It’s fun to get to know my blogger friends beyond books.

  24. Cute hamsters. I hope little dude has fun at his marathon. Have a great week!

  26. Aww hamsters! I love the names Honey and Mustard, haha. Running two blogs does seem like a lot of work. I think just posting other types of posts here sometimes is a great idea :-)

  27. I use to have hamsters when I was in grade school. They are interesting little guys. I hope you have a great week!
