2019 Reading Challenge - April Update

It feels like it's a bit too late to post April's reading challenge summary, seeing as it's mid-May, but I've decided to do it anyway as I won't be able to handle being missing a month come December if I don't!

April was an atrocious reading month for me.
I've been stressed, in a slump and I finished the month with a grand total of 2 books read!
Yeah... Not good at all.
I started reading lots of different books, I just struggled to stick to any of them through to completion. I'm sure this means I'll have a bumper month at some point (because I'll finish those I started) but when that will be, I have no idea!

I'm behind on all my challenges, including Goodreads once again, and it all kinda sucks. But oh well!
There's time to sort everything out.

🌻

This year, I signed up for  4 reading challenges (not including the Goodreads Challenge) and 1 blogging challenge.

Details of them can be found in my 2019 Reading Challenge sign up post.

This month I have made progress as follows...

The Goal was to 10-12 books this year featuring royalty.

I entered April with a total of two, I finished April with a total of 2.
I read a big fat ZERO 'Royal' themed books last month.

My blog challenge... Each month a prompt is given and the goal is to write a blog post that fits it.
I haven't written a single prompt.
I think it's safe to say that this one is probably an epic fail this year...

My aim for this one was to read 10-15 books featuring bad boys...
This month I read 0 keeping the total at 1.

This reading challenge is aimed at reading books published before 2019 and getting them off your backlist/TBR/wishlist...

This month, I read 1 book from the backlist.

I'm aiming for 5 audiobooks this year.
My total is now at 4.

April's Audiobook was Broken by S.J. West.

I've also been listening to The House of Hades by Rick Riordan but I haven't finished it yet. I'll have it finished this month.

I'm officially upping the target on this challenge!
I was trying for Newbie (1-5 books) but now I'm going for Weekend Warrior! (5-10 books).

🌻

How are your challenges going this year?

  1. You are so ambitious with your challenges. I only do the Goodreads challenge but keep wanting to join others, maybe I will. It looks like you have got lots of your reading done.

  2. I guess if you’re going to have a book slump, at least have it early in the year. You still have plenty of time to catch up on reading challenges. I hope May ends up being a MUCH better reading month, Nicci!

  3. I think I've been worse with my slumps. I have been really enjoying audiobooks lately as I can do them while traveling or right before sleep. I hope the rest of the month and next really go well for you!

  8. Don't feel bad I think I only read two or three. It is what it is. You do what you can.

  9. I DNFd a lot of books during April, so I think it was the month and not us. ;) My May has been much better! What about yours?

  10. I had to make a real effort to get a few reads done for the Royal book challenge but I am up to 5 finished out of 15 so I am slowly getting there. None are fiction though as I just haven't been in the mood for that kind of read. My reading at the start of the year was great but it has been average over the last couple of months. I'm glad that May has been better for you too!
