Weekly Update #52

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

Work is evil and I'm questioning my career choices as I do frequently but no more so than March.
I hate March.
If it wasn't the month of my son's birthday I'd demand it burned to the ground and the earth salted so March could never re-spawn.

But anyway...

This week, I barely touched a book, had lots of late work nights and have been so brain dead I've turned to comfort TV to keep the spirits up.
I've also been trying to keep peopley interactions to a minimum as my internal filters are failing and I cannot trust what will come out my mouth, lol.
I seriously feel like hanging a 'do not disturb until April' sign around my neck.

On the bright side, it was the little dude's birthday on Thursday so we had dinner out followed by a few games of 10-pin bowling at the local bowling alley. As it was a work/school day we started celebrations after school and he got to bed far later than a usual school night but you only turn 8 once!
One of his gifts was a 12ft trampoline.
His old trampoline was getting on the small side so we got rid of it when we moved and promised him a new one and now seemed like as good a time as any! However, it's been so freaking wet and windy thanks to Storm Gareth that we've had zero opportunity to build it up for him. Fingers crossed for an opportunity sometime this week.!

Nothing!
🙈
I blame it on life stealing my soul.

Kindle Freebies

I love the cover for Moonshine & Magic!

Book Club Freebie

If you sign up to join the 'Romance Read of the Month club' you get sent a free book every month from a whole range of authors. Last month was Jennifer L. Armentrout (and once I didn't own already) and this month it's an author I've never heard of and another book I don't own!
I call this a win and even though the book is different from what I'd go for, it's a romance and it sounds interesting so I'll give it a go!

I've been binge commenting on weekends lately because I'm so zonked during the week.

I've also been really poor at getting around all the Sunday Posters! Sorry, usually I comment on Sunday Post posts Sunday mornings then again on Sunday evening but the past couple of weeks the evening session has been abandoned because of other things taking precedence. I'll hopefully get my mojo back soon.
I have been trying to respond to those who have left comments but if I've missed you, sorry!

I finished my re-watch of The Musketeers!

Man, I miss that show. I seriously love it.

  1. Comfort TV is good when life is getting you down. I'm going to get started on Game of Thrones again, ready for the new series!

  2. I'm so sorry that March is a bust for you. If it is any consolation, we've had cold and wind here, and all I've wanted to do is burrow back down until spring really arrives.

I've taken the helm of one of our earliest book blogging memes, The Sunday Salon. I'd love to have you stop by my blog, Readerbuzz, and post a link to your blog. The Sunday Salon was created twelve years ago to encourage book conversations, and I hope to do the same by sharing links and visiting others' blogs. I hope you will stop by and share!

  3. The week is so bad for me to comment and visit. Next week I was planning to spend a good portion of Saturday morning, visiting and commenting back. Figured I can get a lot accomplished on the weekends. During the week is just too hard. :)

I haven't liked my job for a while now but I just don't know what I want to do yet. It would be a huge change but one I might have to make.

I hope the rest of March is better for you. Have a great week, Nicci! Happy Reading!

  7. My birthday's in March too otherwise I'd agree about March lol. If the weather doesn't get better soon I may be willing to banish it anyway! I'm tired of winter haha.

Hope you have a better week though!

Moonshine and Magic does have a cool cover :) And I don't think I've ever seen The Musketeers!

  11. Trampolines are the best for kids! My daughter used her so much that one day she jumped on it and it shredded down the middle. Luckily she wasn't hurt.

  12. ugh sorry this march is terrible for you
Happy birthday to your little guy tho!
I loved The Musketeers. I was so, so pissed when they cancelled it.

  13. Sorry March has been such a struggle, but yay for birthdays! You're very brave to get him a new trampoline. Haha, I have a fear of them after falling repeatedly as a child.

  14. I hope the rest of March goes quickly. Happy birthday to the little dude. I hope he loves his trampoline. My best friend had a giant trampoline when I was a kid, and we slept on it during hot nights. Have a great week!

  15. You are brave, mom. Trampolines are something I am glad my daughter never wanted. Everyone I know had a kid with some sort of broken bone because of their backyard trampoline. I hope your child does not incur any injuries. Good news! March is more than halfway over, and I hope it gets better for you.

  16. Sorry to hear it's being such a rough month, Nicci. All that wind rain can't have helped... I hope you manage to hang on in there and can get some downtime during April. Wishing you a better week.

  18. The weather really has been horrendous this week right? at times I had a hard time just walking to my building, as it was so windy! and I'm glad you had a great time celebrating your son's birthday. I hope things get better for you soon :)

  19. So how do you really feel about March... ? ;-)
The trampoline sounds like fun! I didn't have one as a kid but my cousin did so I loved spending time at her house. :) I'm loving the Romance Read of the Month Club! I mean, free books! Need we say more?!

  20. I never really liked March much before either - this year I am learning to like it a little more. It is my son's birthday month too! And this winter has been crap, I am ready for spring. :) Although it is still cold here. Lol. Also I never watched that Musketeers show but it looks interesting!

Happy Birthday to your kiddo and I hope you have a better week!

  27. I hope the weather will be better soon and you will be able to build the trampoline.

  31. Yes I'm having a tough week of getting around to everyone too. Our weather has at least been a bit better. I did watch a movie last week but normally I listen to audio as a comfort and either do tasks or knit /sew. March is almost over. Hang in there! Anne - Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
