Weekly Update #51

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

I worked, I ate, I slept, I repeated.
That literally summed up my week until Saturday when we went to the cinema to see Captain Marvel.
Honestly, March is the worst time at work as it marks the end of the financial year and all the end of year deliverables are due... But nevermind. Only a few weeks left to go before another period of calm.

Oh, and there was world book day, of course. The little dude dressed up as Jason Grace and looked so cute in his purple Camp Jupiter t-shirt and mark of the legion tattoo. Bad, distracted,  parent that I am, I failed to get a picture. 😞

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What can I say, I love Rick Riordan's writing and Percy is an absolute favourite. It doesn't matter that this was a short story, I loved every word of it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was a quick, sweet, sexy and fun read but I'll admit I'm nervous to see how part two of the duo plays out when it releases in May!

I should have added this to last week's update but I forgot so I'm adding it to this one.
😊

Freebies

Both of these were available on free on Kindle this week. Don't know if they still are but worth checking!

Dead Eye is the one I'm really looking forward to. Anne over at Books of my Heart featured it this week and it sounds like a lot of fun!

Captain Marvel!

Ah man, It was awesome. I really really liked it. Bree Larson rocked it and the soundtrack was also badass. Not to mention the end of credit scenes had me practically squealing in excitement for what's to come next.

This song had me almost in tears... So frigging beautiful and emotional.

  1. Weekends seem to have the same pattern for me-read and watch Tv! I just struggle to sit still long enough to watch films at the moment!

  2. Thanks for stopping by my website. Nice long answer! Till next BBH!

  3. In the US, we celebrate the same thing but we call it Read Across America Day. I like World Book Day a little better, I think.

I've created a linky on my blog for the Sunday Salon and I've kept the Facebook group. I hope you will join in and spread the word.

  4. Nicci I gues you are working in book keeping by your comment on March! Well then yes you just have to wait for some weeks before everything gets settled again! Thank you for Lewis Capaldi! I had heard teh song but did not know who sang it! Now I know. Have a wonderful Sunday.

    1. I'm a project manager, Sophie. I just work for the government so have to tie everything up before the FY ends and submit all the plans for the new FY... March is just evil.
      I love Lewis's voice!

  5. Loving listening to the Lewis Capaldi song... Yes - I used to love World Book Day when I was teaching in school and when my children were younger. Looking forward to hearing what my grandson dressed up as when I get a chance to catch up with him. Best of luck with the rest of March and the runup to the year end - I worked in an Account Dept in another lifetime and recall the crazy workload with a shudder... Take care, Nicci.

  6. Sometimes it's cool when you don't have photographic evidence of things, because then you can remember them exactly as you perceived the event to be. But, it sounds like your son looked adorable. My daughter is such a HUGE Rick Riordan fan. We have all his books. I should read another one, one of these days.

    1. I love Rick Riordan too! His books are just so good... His characters so likeable - powerful but so human and so young. I think his world is better than Harry Potter but people think I'm mad for that, lol.

  7. I take a lot of photos these days; with social networking, etc., we seem to photograph everything. When my kids were little, I didn't get as many photos...being a busy mom and all. Plus, the cameras weren't the greatest, and having to get film developed, well, not conducive to capturing events impulsively.

I do love digital photos...and the iPhone camera.

Thanks for sharing...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  14. Sounds like work is a nightmare. Hopefully March will pass quickly so things can get back to normal. I've yet to read anything by Katy Regnery or Kendall Ryan. One of these days it'll happen!

  16. World Book Day - I've read a few posts where it is celebrated and why don't we celebrate it more here? I hope to get to Captain Marvel but my moviegoing is so lazy. I can't seem to fit it into the schedule. I can barely watch tv or Netflix at home, and at least I can knit while I watch at home.

Thanks for the shoutout!! I appreciate it. Anne - Books of My Heart
