Weekly Update #50

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

The 'back to school after half term' battle turned out to be unnecessary as the little dude went back to school with nary a moan or a whimper. Very strange... But welcome.
The week was generally a quiet one. School, work, chilled evenings.
I took advantage of this and binge read my way through five books.
FIVE!
I can't remember the last time I did that in a week. It was fun.
However, the binge reading meant I wasn't on my computer at all outside of the office and that meant I was behind on comments. I tried to catch up at the weekend but if I missed you, I'm sorry!

⭐⭐⭐

This was a 100-page or so novella and book one in a series.
It was okay but I fear pretty forgettable so despite the fact I'm willing to continue reading I wonder if I'll remember it when it when part two releases?
I suppose if the cover is as eye-catching as this one then I just might!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book has left me emotionally crippled.
I said everything I have to say in my review and I'm now practicing the art of mental avoidance or else I'll start crying again. No joke.

⭐⭐⭐

It was okay. Not good, not great, just okay. The series has me gripped enough to continue but I'm really hoping they get better.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

The series got better!

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ooohh.... I'm liking this now. I'm liking this lots.

Paperback

This is a short story (re?) released for World Book Day.
Both the kindle and print editions were 99p (seriously) so I bought the little print edition. We have all the Percy Jackson/Heroes books on print (and audio) and it'd feel wrong to have this one only on my kindle.... Not to mention, there's no way in hell I'd surrender my kindle to the little dude so he could read it! The content he could stumble upon... 😂

Kindle

I've been eye-balling this book for ages and grabbed it when it went to £3.99 on kindle. Win!

I think this might have been a sale. It was only £1.49. Since I've wanted it for a while, I pounced.

99p Sale

So much love around for this book and at 99p it'd be rude not to finally find out why for myself!

How many people have loved this book? How many people have it on their 'Best of 2018' lists?
LOTS. And I've never read it despite wanting to every time I see it.
At 99p, I wasn't passing it up!

Kindle Unlimited

A facebook book advert baited me... I haven't read it yet but the click bait snippets sounded so good!

Anna @ Herding Cats & Burning Soup is hosting a month-long blog-ahead event! If you're struggling to bank some posts - the story of my life - then why not join in?

I started watching S1 of the Mayan's MC tv show.
I loved Sons of Anarchy but after three episodes of the Mayan's, I'm still on the fence.
Amazingly, it's available on BBC iPlayer in the UK... Never thought that would happen!

Cover reveal: Kingdom of Sand and Wishes
Blitz: The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros
(I was taking part in this but I'm 100% done with promo stuff being sent through the night before it's to go live. I get the need with cover reveals but with book blitzes there's just no need... I'm busy and don't have time for that crap. Shame because the book was great.)

  1. It was book 4 of the Kitty series before I felt it really hit its stride. I really enjoyed 5, 6, 7 and 8! I agree with you that book blitz material should be sent through in plenty time. Even the Cover reveals too-the blogger needs to be trusted to post it on the right day and needs to be given time to get the post together. I used to do blog tour stuff but it started to take over everything with late or no materials arriving and then orders that the blitz post must stay as top post for 24 hours which was useless for a busy blog like mine! I stopped doing them!

    1. I'm fast getting there too Chuckles. I'm signing up for less and less because of the hassle. :(

  2. OMG I so get that you don't post when you get the packet like half an hour before it's supposed to go live. I eon't even get it for cover reveals. I've repeatedly suggested that they send the packet without live links and just send the links when it's up. Nope, they don't listen. So when I don't have the packet and no time to set up yhe post last minute it's not gonna happen.

I'm currently reading The Last Letter. This family is going through a lot.

    1. The Last Letter broke me... The ending was just unnecessary considering everything else! But still, I'll remember it and I thought it was beautiful in places.

  5. Yeah, I'm not a fan of getting last minute promo email that you have to do up for the next day! It takes a lot of time and when you work during the day and have to come home and already have so much to do that's not fun.

Loved Josh & Hazel so great that you snapped it up! I'm interested in the Kitty series now. :)

  9. Five books in one week... reading was your superpower last week! :) You got an amazing deal of Josh & Hazel! I just read it last week and loved it so, so much! Totally lived up to all the hype. At this point I'm convinced Christina Lauren can do no wrong. :)

  11. OH SOA is a favorite. Note my avi picture; that's at the Teller Morrow set right before the premier for S7. I get to see Charlie again in May!!

I liked the Kitty series. I like Ben more than Cormac. Everyone seems gutted by The Last Letter. Josh & Hazel were on my best of 2018 list. Have a great week! Anne - Books of My Heart

    1. I like Ben too. Cormac is fun but Kitty and Cormac was what I expected so I liked the twist.

The Last Letter is gutting. No way around it but it was still a good one.

  12. Yay for binge reading and quiet weeks. Happy to hear the return to school wasn't stressful for the little guy afterall. I hope this week was just as good!
