Work continues to be blah and on the home front, I finally got my hair cut!
My head feels all funny now, lol. I'd grown it out over 15 months for my wedding and it was more than halfway down my back. Now? It's sitting above my collar bones.
That's pretty much my week. I worked. I vegged. I survived. Eventually, I'll have fun stuff to report once more... Like going outside and doing stuff for fun rather than just hibernating in my house. π

Oh yeah... The Last Hero by Rick Riordan.
It was an awesome story and the narrator was really enjoyable too.
Turns out listening to something well written and interesting (with a good narrator) in the car works for me! Tomorrow, I'm going to start the next book in this series - The Son of Neptune - and I'm excited!
It cropped up on the Facebook feed. It sounded nice and sweet. It was on KU. I clicked it. I read it.
It was very meh - super clean, inspirational brain fluff - but I read it in a few days!
Given the way I am at the moment with reading I was happy to have read it and not abandoned it after a few chapters.
Plus, this one counts towards my Royal Reading Challenge as one half of the happy couple was a prince. Boom!
Another kid book... This one was aimed at convincing kids that playing with real toys is more fun than playing with computers. It'll fail in its mission but it was a sweet read.

A Series of Unfortunate Events (Movie)
I don't know why the little dude was determined to watch this after having finished the TV show but he did so we did! My opinion was that it was complete rubbish (especially when compared to the TV show) but the little dude was entertained so I guess that's all that counts.
Transformers
After seeing Bumblebee at the cinema (which was kinda fun!), the little dude asked to watch all the other movies. Thus, Transformers.
It's not Freddie but it is still pretty amazing...

Plus, some reviews! (I'm so behind on reviews...) And I'll be posting my January reading challenge update.
I was on a roll with my book review catchup until I lost the internet for a week and now I'm struggling to get my head back into doing them!
ReplyDeleteI keep telling myself to write the review as soon as I finish the book but I fell out of the habit and now I'm paying for it. :(
DeleteDo you ever think it's time to draw a line under those that have passed and just start over going forward? I'm really tempted to do that.
Glad your excited for some fun audiobooks. I'm absolutely addicted to the Sophie Kinsella books myself.
ReplyDeleteI loved her earlier ones but the more recent ones have been hit and miss... Never tried them on audio though. Maybe one day I will!
DeleteGlad to hear your audiobook was a success! The narrator makes all the difference! I think once you get used to listening you'll find there are more books you'll enjoy by audiobook. Hope work gets less blah for you. Transformers would be fun for a young boy! Have a great week, Nicci! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel!
DeleteI am also behind on reviews!!!! This is stressing me. Now thanks for Bohemian Rhapsody I adore all songs written by Queen! Happy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. :)
DeleteMy hair had always been long. it was long enough for me to sit on and I cut it so it's right at the small of my back now.
ReplyDeleteI hate the hairdressers so I alternate between getting it cut as short as I can while still being able to tie it back (collarbones) then growing it until it gets too annoying (somewhere between my bra strap and the small of my back) then repeating over and over, lol.
DeleteI am so over due for a hair cut. I need to go soon my head is a rats nest. I am thinking of getting it to my shoulders since I think it is due for a healthy cut. I just dyed it darker than intended but I do love it this color. I just have a feeling they will tell me it's to dark for my skin tone. Whatever! lol
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a nice week Nicci! Happy Reading! xx
Pah! Who cares as long as YOU like it? You're the one who has to live with it. This is one of the reasons hairdressers annoy me (even though mine is absolutely lovely, lol).
DeleteYou just reminded me of the first time I had my hair cut short (a bob) after it being superlong for years. I couldn't get the hang of my head being so much lighter and kept cricking my neck when I turned my head!
ReplyDeleteLol, I know! I keep going "it feels all floaty!" Then almost doing myself a mischief!
DeleteSounds like a good week for you. A new hairstyle can be great. Enjoy the upcoming week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm looking forward to easier mornings thanks to less haircare! :)
DeleteA lot of people seem to hit their stride listening to audiobooks in the car. I'm happy to hear you found one you loved. π✨
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week. π
Thanks, you too!
DeleteThe weirdest thing about a big haircut is always forgetting to use less shampoo. :)
ReplyDeleteThe shampoo wasn't so bad but the amount of conditoner I wanted this morning was shameful! π
DeleteThat's a dramatic haircut!
ReplyDeleteAnd I finished an audiobook too!!! They will make converts out of us one day lol
Karen @ For What It's Worth
Lol, i fear it maybe true!
DeleteWow! That's a drastic change to your hair. Good for you! I hope you like it. I love Brendon Urie. I have gotten to see Panic several times, but sadly, the kid is going without me this tour (as we live 700 miles apart)
ReplyDeleteHis voice is amazing! I imagine it's quite a show live. I'd quite like to see it one day. π
DeleteI used to drive a lot when my job was a couple hours away and I kick myself now that I didn't listen to audiobooks at the time!
ReplyDeleteMario and the Aliens looks cute. :)
It's awesome! I'm kicking myself for not really trying to listen in the car before.
DeleteI've been in such a book funk lately. Also, nothing interesting has happened with me either-its too cold to go outside!!
ReplyDeleteI love audiobooks during my commute!
I'm hating the cold at the moment.
DeleteI have been reading like crazy and have the reviews piling up. I'm hoping to get my writing mojo back into high gear soon. LOL I listen to books at work. I'm lucky to work outside by myself and it actually helps me concentrate on my job.
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
I'm beginning to think audiobooks just a matter of finding your listening mojo... That space where you can make the random thoughts stop.
DeleteYou're lucky to be able to listen at work.π
I am sure the new cut looks amazing and sometimes its nice to do something out of the norm. I got get mine done on Tuesday but my hair has been short for years. I just don't have the will or patience to grow it out. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteMary #SundayRoundup #55!
I grow mine out of a dislike for getting it cut but then it gets too annoying and needs the chop.
DeleteIt's much dimplsi in the morning when it's short though... Less products and hairdrying etc.
A few years ago I did the same thing and chopped my hair off to just below my shoulders. It felt so strange at first. I'm trying to grow it long again now.
ReplyDeleteI need to listen to audio books again, I have a decent morning commute so it would be nice to get through books that way.
Enjoy your books!
My hair grows stupid fast.it went from chin length to half way down my back (just above the small if my back really) in a year.
DeleteI used to donate my hair every 3 years, but after a couple decades I decided that I'd given enough and after my last donation (about 2.5 yrs ago) I got purple highlights. I may donate again now that they've all grown out, but I may just get more highlights. I really liked them. I really don't know what I want. lol
ReplyDeleteI've done that in the past... Donated to the princess Trust who make wigs for kids who've lost their hair typically due to cancer treatment. I didn't this time but now I think of it I probably should've.☹️
DeletePurple highlights sound cool!
I'm going to be working again soon so I'll be listening to audio books during my commute. I used to do that all the time but I stopped when I stopped working. It's been a quiet week for me too. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt's really soothing and a good way to shut the work brain up!
DeleteAww, but hibernating with reading is always the fun part! ;) I'm glad you started The Heroes of Olympus and hope you enjoy the rest of the series as well! I still need to read the last book of that one.
ReplyDeleteI remember the movie version of Unfortunate Events a long time ago and I think I enjoyed that one? I like the TV show better, though, as I feel they did a better job and the story is more fleshed out.
Yeah, the movie wasn't horrible it was just so rushed.
DeleteHaha, I’m hibernating, too. There’s way too much snow out there for me! Enjoy your new books. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I wish we had snow!
DeleteI've seen Panic's "Bohemian Rhapsody." Not bad; I do love them!! I really need to get my hair cut. It's not terribly long, but it's long for me and it needs to be thinned out. haha
ReplyDelete-Lauren
www.shootingstarsmag.net
Yeah, it's nice when they thin it. I have really thick hair too so I sympathise!
DeleteA haircut can make you feel so different, I agree. Your comment about convincing kids playing with real toys is more fun than computers made me laugh---I think you're probably right that that's a hopeless mission.
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Right? Still worth the battle though. :)
DeleteOh I love a good haircut! Always makes me happy. Audiobooks can be so good if done right. Love them. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, you too!
DeleteWoo! That is a big change in length. I always end up using way too much shampoo/conditioner for a while after one of those cuts. lol Hope it's a good week for ya!
ReplyDeleteLol, yeah it's been a bit of a shameful waste the last few days! But the ease of getting ready in the morning is awesome.
Delete'The King of her Heart' looks great. I'll have to check that one out.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new hair. I love getting a new hair cut. It Always makes me realize I should have one much more. LOL!.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Thanks!
DeleteI'm glad to hear you had a good experience with your audiobook. And congrats on the new haircut!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI haven't had my haircut since last July! It's always nice to go in and get a whole new look. And don't worry I haven't done anything rather productive recently either, it's nice just to relax once in a while, hope you have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteIt'd been October 2017 for me! I grew it out for my wedding...
DeleteI ADORE transformers I don;t know how many times I've watched the movies. Though, I still haven't watched Bumblebee! Which is weird because that's my fav transformer :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow that was quite the change of style cutting so much hair but it usually feels refreshing and liberating :) I'm kinda getting into this winter thingy (after only two decades of living in New England LOL!) and kinda like hibernating π Yay for finishing an audiobook! I still remember when audiobooks finally clicked with me :) Hope you enjoy The Son of Neptune as much Nicci! :)
Winter is so blah. I spend all of it hoping for snow and getting nothing. ☹️
DeleteHave a lovely week and happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteMajor haircuts are always really weird, but I hope you love it! Enjoy your new reads! Royally Bitten looks really good!
ReplyDeleteIt is weird but good. π
DeleteI need a haircut bad! LOL. I always love how it feels afterward.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week.
I love it too! So soft and swishy. π
DeleteOver the last 15 years I have grown and cut my hair 6 times for Locks of Love, about every 2.5 years. This last time it is a little shorter than I like and I'm working on growing it back out a bit.
ReplyDeleteWith the cold right now, it's hard to get out and do things. I'm more about cozying up with books. Have a good week! Anne - Books of My Heart
Yeah, this time it's a bit shorter than I prefer. It'll probably only take a month or two for it to grow out to my preferred length but it's going to feel like a long month!
DeleteI've been seeing the weather reports from the US... Absolutely nuts!
