Movies I'm excited about in 2019

I know, this is a book blog, but I'm in a reading slump and struggling so I thought I'd switch it up a little and share the movies that I'm excited about in 2019.

Ta da! Here they are.

How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

I'll confess, I've never read the books this franchise is based on but I absolutely love the movies and the TV show - Race To The Edge. I don't care if they are a little different or dramatically so, in my opinion, it rocks! Hiccup and his motley crew are lovely and endearing and I'm gutted that their story is coming to an end but so excited to see how it ends!

Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

I never wanted to watch the first movie and was able to avoid it for quite some time but, alas, I have a son and he likes Lego so it was pretty inevitable that I'd end up watching number one and I actually really like it. It made me laugh, hard. It was weird, and charming and became a family favourite.

I've no idea if the sequel will be able to live up to it - The Lego Batman movie certainly didn't - but we're going to see it anyways!

Captain Marvel

Part of me feels like I should hand my feminist credentials in for not being all that excited about this movie on it's own merits but... I'm not. It's on my 'excited' list because it's Marvel - and I love Marvel - and because of how it apparently ties into Avengers: Endgame.

That said, it'll probably be awesome and I'll probably love it... I'm just not sold on the trailers or the hype.

Avengers: Endgame

As I said, I love Marvel and after the events in Infinity War, I actually might die watching this one.
I seriously love Captain America and I firmly believe he'll die during this movie - in some epic way that will save the day - and I will end up bawling my eyes out in the cinema while cursing the universe... But I guess we'll see!

Pokemon Detective Pikachu

I used to hate Pokemon but then I started catching more and more episodes with the kid, then playing Pokemon Go - with the kid - and now... Well. I love Pokemon Go, probably more than he does, and we've worked our way through the animated movies and 11 seasons of a TV show, so... Yeah. Pokemon movie. I'm curious, so I'm there.

Aladin

Aladin is one of my favourite Disney movies... I was my son's age when it originally released and I remember it so clearly. It wasn't my first cinema movie - that was The Little Mermaid - but it's the first I properly remember so it's special to me. I'm excited to see how the live-action turns out!

The Minecraft Movie

Okay, I'm not so much excited about this movie as morbidly curious. However, the little dude is crazy excited so it's on the list.
I haven't seen any trailers, official movie posters, or whatever but it's got a confirmed status on IMDB and a release date of June so it's on the list!

Spiderman: Far From Home

It's Marvel. I like Tom Holland's Spiderman. I like the trailer for this one, and I have a big soft spot for Jake Gyllenhaal, so... Excited.

Star Wars Episode 9

Hello, my name is Nicci and I am a Reylo shipper.
Their love is going to bring balance to the force peeps, I'm telling ya... Even if it doesn't, the dynamic between Rey and Kylo is what keeps me interested when I'm dragged along to these movies.
Yes, I say dragged for I'm not a Star Wars fan and I'm not apologetic about it either. However, the professor is and the little dude is so I watch and I talk and I tolerate with a smile and mild amusement... Except for Episode VIII. I was all in for this trilogy after Episode VIII.

Other worthwhile mentions...

There are a few other movies that either The Professor, the little dude, or I am curious about this year but aren't desperate to see so will probably wait for general release before watching...

Alita: Battle Angel, Dark Phoenix, Toy Story 4, live-action remakes of Dumbo and The Lion King, The Addams Family (remake), The Artemis Fowl movie.

    1. Aquaman was awesome! The story was a bit meh but the visuals were great (and I'm not just talking Jason Momoa! lol)

  3. I see roughly one movie a year at the theater (LOL) so I'm not exactly up on what's coming out. I did hear The Nightingale was being adapted and could be out by December. That's exciting. And I hadn't heard about Aladdin or The Addams Family remakes... both of those should be fun! :)

    1. We average out about one a month. Some months there are 2 or 3 other months none at all. This year is looking to be a pretty awesome year for movies.

I've heard lots about The Nightingale book but didn't realise it was going to be a movie! I'll definitely watch that.
