Weekly Update #34

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

I have keys! Yeay!
The house is awesome but we still haven't moved in.
Since getting the keys on Friday we've been moving in boxes, some furniture and painting on colour where we want it (the walls were all white). We've also ordered the new furniture pieces we need to replace old pieces and basically will spend the next few days finishing off moving before officially moving in Wednesday/Thursday.
I'm not looking forward to not having internet while our provider switches over to the new address but I'll try not to pout too much...

In other news, I've been challenged to take part in NaNoWriMo. Stupid me, I accepted the challenge.
I wrote a post about it but flippin' heck, I like reading the books, not trying writing them!
😖

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was interesting! A little bit apocalyptic, a little bit dystopian and a little bit messed up but completely unputdownable. I really, really, enjoyed it! There was a couple of bits that irked me and for that reason I couldn't give it 5 stars but I have high hopes for future books in the series!
I can't wait to meet the next horseman!

⭐⭐⭐

This one was okay. Not good, not bad just... A bit disappointing. Basically, it was a lovely contemporary romance if you ignored the fluorescent pink elephant in the room dancing the can-can and blowing a whistle. Unfortunately, that was pretty impossible to do.

99p

The description got me and at 99p I don't feel too bad... This is going on my HoHoHo Readathon list.

I finished Riverdale S2 and watched ep.1 of S3. I loved the weirdness of S2 and S3 looks like it's going to fall down another rabbit-hole, which I'm all for, but I've decided to hold off on continuing the series until the mid-season point or until the season is complete. I definitely prefer binge-watching this type of show rather than going week on week... I'm too impatient otherwise!

Beyond that, I finished s6 of The Vampire Diaries. I had 4 episodes left of the season and I watched them one after the other while packing boxes... Multitasking at its finest!

Have a great week all!

  1. Congratulations on getting the keys :) You've had a busy week with moving and painting. I would like to watch the The Vampire Diaries, I started watching it when it first came out, but my daughter and I missed a couple of episodes and it was hard to catch up. Now, we can binge watch. Have a lovely week ahead.

    1. I had to start again at S1 with this re-watch because it had been so long and I couldn't remember so much. This time, I'm hoping to see it all the way through so I can say 'complete' and call it good.
Good luck for when you decide to start the binge watch!

  2. Congrats!!! Hope your moving in goes well. :)

I feel the same way about Riverdale. I'll watch week to week because I'm too impatient to know what's going on lol, but I definitely prefer binging!

  3. Congratulations on your new home! I've moved a lot, so I know it can be challenging. Hopefully the internet will work soon. ;)
I haven't watched Riverdale yet. I don't really know if it's for me though.
Have a good week and happy reading!

    1. I put off Riverdale for so long because I didn't think I'd like it but then was hooked! I'd recommend watching at least 3 or 4 episodes to get a feel for it before deciding.

  4. Huge congratulations on getting the keys, Nicci - it's always an enormous amount of work getting decorating done and moving in - I'm impressed you read any books at all this week. The Laura Thalassa book intrigues me - I've encountered her name before, but haven't read any of her books to date. In the meantime, I hope the major moving in goes smoothly!

    1. Thanks!
I really enjoyed Pestilence. It was a good escape read. :)

  5. Yeah for getting the keys to your new home. I hate moving but do enjoy making a new home into my happy place. Pestilence is on my wish list. Sounds like a good series. And I spy a Christmas book! I'm already reading some. Never to early:)

  6. It must be so exciting getting the new house! I remember cleaning and cleaning and then moving in. We didn't have to paint anything but our kids rooms to the colors they wanted. As our house was fresh painted a wonderful tan color that brought the outside in with the picture windows and we didn't want to change it. It is awesome and awful at the same time with moving as you know. I hope you have a great week.

    1. We only painted a couple of feature walls in the bedrooms. We've left everything else as is as it was all nice and new.
That said, we have a lot of painting to do in the old house before we hand the keys back. :(

  7. Good luck with NaNo and I hope you have a successful move. I am sort of sad that the Cindi Madsen book was meh. I usually really enjoy her books.

    1. I've only read one other and I loved it but this one just didn't sit well and I'm gutted for I had such high hopes for it. :(

  8. Congrats on getting the keys! It's exciting to move, but a lot of work as you know. Hope you have a lot of help.

I'm curious about Pestilence. It's sounds like a good series, and I've never heard of it or the author. I'll check it out. :)

    1. Pestilence was a weird one but I really liked it! I'm just gutted that the rest of the series isn't available and that book 2 isnt out until next year sometime.

  9. I so loved Pestilence! And a new house is always exciting and exhausting LOL Now good luck with NaNo!!!

  10. Ooh, the process of moving sucks! Being without Internet...and slowly settling in. I hope it goes well. I've decided that I'm never moving again! I suspect that will not stick, though, as eventually I'll want a smaller place. (Ridiculous, since I thought that was what I was getting here.) I read a book with a Tiny House in it...less cleaning, right?

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

    1. Oddly, the smaller the house the more cleaning I feel compelled to do. I think it's because you're so limited in space that you have to be on it all the time or it quickly becomes unlivable whereas larger houses may get dusty but it takes longer to make them... Uncomfortable, lol.

  11. Good luck with the move! Picking out wall colors is pretty fun. We couldn't do all ours at once, but the kids' rooms and the laundry room have been done. (Next is the Spare Room.)

    I've always wanted to try Nano, but don't think I ever could do it. It's my birth month AND thanksgiving over in the US. I become stressed and useless right about mid-Nov until about February. ^^;
    Good luck!

I should probably start Riverdale up again. I really loved Archie comics as a kid and did start the first season, but got bored waiting for the next episode and just kind of stopped.

    1. That's why I've decided to wait on watching S3. I loved being able to binge s1 + 2 and I know I'd get fed up with week on week watching.

  14. Yay for getting the keys! I hope the move this week goes well. And good luck with NaNoWriMo. Pestilence sounds good. I am glad you enjoyed it! I am in the middle of Season 2 of Riverdale and enjoying it. I can't remember where I left off with The Vampire Diaries. Right before The Originals started, maybe? I need to go back and watch those two series again from the start and catch up.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

    1. I went back and started Vampire Diaries at S1 again. I couldn't remember much of the series I'd watched previously so when I decided to rewatch now its complete, I had to do it from the beginning. It's been worth it.
The Originals is something I never watched but want to once I've finished VD.

  15. I feel like I should try watching Riverdale. It sounds like it would be one I like. I just don't want to take on any more shows. Of course these days I'm probably giving up ones like The Walking Dead, so maybe I have more time. I am also doing NaNoWriMo. I have my story idea, and a very bare outline, one that I don't know how to get from one point to the next. So I'm a little worried! Good luck to you though in your NaNo!
