Weekly Update #24

Welcome!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

I'm so late in posting this today because the past week has been crazy with work and fun activities with the little dude! Hopefully, next week will be much quieter for me at least...
The mother-in-law is over from Ireland for a few days, the little dude is at his grandfathers for a couple of days and I'm working through it all. After that, it's the weekend and my mum arrives from Scotland on Saturday for a couple of weeks and the professor leaves for Colorado (again) for a week.

The busy week got in the way of doing much reading but the Tower of London was fun - despite lots of rain! - and Warwick Castle was great too so I'm happy.

Inciting a Riot by Karen Rose

⭐⭐ 1/2

I was so excited to read this but sadly it wasn't all that good.
It wasn't bad - I've read much worse - but it just wasn't up to stuff. Frustratingly, it could have been really good but it just needed more work, a better beta reader or editor or something to iron out the niggles... Anyways, I'll elaborate more when I review it.

Nothing!
Well, my pre-order of Inciting a Riot (read above) was delivered but that was a 99p pre-order weeks ago so I'm not counting it.
I've already confessed to buying that one...
😉

I was so excited to find out that the next Cassie Palmer book (by Karen Chance) has a cover! It's not released yet but I'm hoping a cover means that a release date will soon follow... But in the meantime, a Pritkin (I love him) and Dory crossover novella is coming later this month (which I didn't know about) so *happy dances*.

I got approved for the Fragments of Ash (Katy Regnery's next Modern Fairytale) blog tour! I don't get the book until September but I'm still happy.

As for interesting posts around the blogosphere... I've been terrible and haven't done much visiting this week because of the busy. Sorry!!

The little dude and I finished How To Train Your Dragon: Race to The Edge on netflix.
It was 6 seasons of awesome. I seriously love those characters. We're all set to watch the second movie now!

Beyond that, I binge re-watched The White Princess.
It needed to be done after Warwick Castle for one of the features at Warwick has on offer right now is the War of the Roses live. It put me right in the mood.

Blitz: The Girl Who Sees by Dima Zales
Review: It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time - Kylie Scott
Blitz: It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time - Kylie Scott

A couple of cover reveals and a release blitz. I stupidly double booked myself on one of the days but oh well! It happens...
I also need to get ahead and prep some posts.
Have a great week all!

  3. What a busy—but fun—week! I've seen The White Queen, but not it's "sequel" series. Would you say it was about as good? I know those shows aren't always huge on historical accuracy, but I love the costumes and some old fashioned drama :)

  8. Wow, sounds like much comings and goings at your house lately. Hope everyone's travels go smoothly. Ugh, I hate double-booking myself for blog tour stuff. It doesn't happen often but I always cringe when I discover my faux pas.

  10. YaY! for CO (although I'm sure you are missing him and that case... boo!). Hope you have a fun visit. Would love to visit Scotland. Will she take me with her when she goes back? LOL Haven't seen any of those Netflix shows but I may have to watch them now. Hope the week is good for you!

  12. Lots of family zooming in and out. Bummer your pre-order book was a disappointment.
Oh cool! I need to go see the cover. And, love the news about the novella for Dory and Pritkin. :)

Glad you had a good time with the Little Guy.

Have a lovely rest of the week, Nicci!

  13. Wow, busy times! I'm a big fan of photographing castles! I had great fun in Yorkshire on holiday last year visiting Bolton Castle, Skipton Castle and Middleham Castle. I love my War of the Roses and Tudor related places too-and I actually enjoy the romance in books from that time period by Philippa Gregory and co!
