The school holidays have begun!
I don't know whether to beg someone to save me or to rejoice... Maybe a bit of both? It's awesome having more time to do stuff with the kiddo but it's stressful juggling work and making sure he's covered not to mention how kids seem to go slightly feral when school is out.

In far more exciting news, WE GOT RAIN!
I woke up in the early hours of Saturday to rain, then it rained periodically throughout the day and today - so far - had been heavy, windy, glorious rain.
It's so overdue and it's the first time in almost two months I'm not too hot!
Yeay!
Oh yeah, we also got our mortgage approved.
That was pretty exciting too, lol.

Moon Tortured - Mckenzie Hunter

This book was so many kinds of frustrating, I don't even know where to start!
I liked the world and I think I'd have really liked the book if it didn't drag on so long!
The author just needed to get to the point... Maybe a better editor?
Anyhoo, I'll probably read the next one to see if it improves but I'm not up for another ten-hour slog through frustrating and repetitive nonsense so if it's not better, I'm out.
Kindle Unlimited
Making the most of my KU subscription now that the house buying penny squeeze is seriously pinching!
Free!

It was on my amazon wishlist and I noticed it was now free... It'd be rude to have ignored it!
99p
I know. I shouldn't be buying books but it was 99p! And it was just one...
Oh, ok, this isn't really bookish news but DID YOU SEE IT?! Did you see The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer from comic con?!
It looks awesome. So much better than Fantastic Beasts... I'm actually excited about this movie now!

The other thing that seems to be dominating the twitterverse / blog land this week is book piracy.
I don't know how many times it needs to be stated but for the love of books, don't be a dick and don't steal things.
The only acceptable form of piracy is drinking rum, out the bottle, before noon on a bad day.
(What? You've never done it? Me neither but it's an ambition...)

We've got rain here in Torquay today too. It's such thick cloud that I can't see over to the next hill!
ReplyDeleteAm intrigued by Sounds Like Summer. Will look forward to your review :-)
Yeay for the rain! I wish it'd gone on for a little bit longer. We're heating back up rapidly! :/
DeleteEnjoy the new books and the week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenea!
DeleteYou probably weren't getting rain, because it would NOT stop raining where I live. We had flash floods on Friday. Seriously. I live in Jersey. Congratulations on the mortgage. That's great news!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam!
DeleteI thought Feels Like Summer was cute. I wanted to go back and read the first one but haven't gotten to it yet.
ReplyDeleteour rain seems to have stopped and it's just HOT.

Roll on November!
DeleteHuzzah for rain! We might get a few scattered sprinkles this week, but chances are low. Sadly it'll be a couple more months before it's a real possibility again. I hope the kiddo settles down from the high of summer vacation soon...at least enough to preserve everyone's sanity :)
ReplyDeleteSadly, it's heating up again! :/
DeleteSounds like a busy summer is in order for you. Hope you enjoy it.

DeleteI’m glad you got some rain! I love rain because it cools everything down, and I can’t stand heat. It makes me angry. I hope your feral kids are having a great summer. Congrats on the mortgage. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Heat makes me angry too.
DeleteCongrats on getting your mortgage approved! This is sooo exciting!! House hunting is so much fun!

Moana is great fun. Love the sound track!
DeleteYes... it's great not having to water the garden AND we had some rain last night as well! Thank you so much for the Fantastic Beasts trailer that brought joy to the Higbee household - we loved the first film and now we are all thrilled to think there will be another one:)). Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be nice if the grass went back to green instead of yellow... Fingers crossed for a little more rain soon. :)
DeleteNovember will be here before we know it and we'll be able to enjoy Fantastic Beasts 2!
Yup Summers can be stressful for moms! "slightly feral"?? HAHAHAHA YES that's the exactly the term I would use! Congrats on the mortgage! and enjoy your feral summer! :)
ReplyDeletelol at going slightly feral. We got some crazy rain this week, too. Ours didn't cool it off but made it more humid (nooooo!) but my yard is happy. lol
