So, Salisbury had another great week in the news... Some more suspected poisonings (this time assumed accidental) but it's caused chaos and the conspiracy nuts are having a grand ol' time with it.
π
The most annoying thing is that they have Queen Elizabeth Park cordoned off which is not cool! It's a gorgeous park with nice bike runs and an awesome play park for kids. I mean, if it's not safe then obviously it needs to be cordoned but seeing as it took 3 MONTHS to clean up the site the Skripals were found at this is really not cool.
Not to mention all the other parts of the city that are still cut off.
π€
In other news... I don't have other news, lol.
It's been a quiet week, well, except for England beating Colombia in penalties in the world cup then Sweden 2-0 to reach the semi-finals.
Honestly, you should see the hysteria!
ππ
(Yep, double eye rolls!)
But anyhoo, I just smile. nod, and keep the sarcasm to a minimum when in public!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ah, this was a lovely read that gave me all the good feels!
I loved it and it was the perfect conclusion to Rachel and Anthony's story which begun in Meet Me Under the Mistletoe!
(FYI - Either could be read as a standalone if you wanted.)
No Man Can Tame by Miranda Honfleur
⭐⭐⭐⭐
No Man Can Tame was a fantasy romance featured in a multi-book collection of retellings of Beauty and The Beast. It's currently only available as part of the collection but will release as a standalone entity later this year.
All in all, I really liked it! I love the story of beauty and the beast and there are so many ways it can be played out. I'm not usually one for pure fantasy books that are low on the heat rating but this worked.
PS LOOK at that gorgeous cover for its standalone release!
Uncovering You books 4 - 6 by Scarlet Edwards
Book Four - ⭐⭐⭐
Book Five - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Book Six - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I read the first three novellas in this series a while back and it was... slightly traumatising!
They're dark romance that's very heavy on the dark and very miserly on the romance. Actually, miserly is an understatement. There was no romance.
However, they were oddly compelling. Lilley's plight was compelling and I wanted to see what came next despite not being in a hurry to dive further into the dark.
So, this week I finally worked up the courage to return!
I'm glad I did. The overall plot has thickened and the romance is finally starting to emerge.
They are gripping but sweet baby jesus they are stressful to read! lol
I need another break before continuing.

I laughed so much at this post over at Avalinah's Books! Is Ron Weasley Actually... Just a Major Dick? I have to say my answer would be yes. Yes indeed he is a bit of a major dick, lol.
I love that movie.
Ragnarok and The Guardians are most definitely my favourites of the MCU.
Review: Strawberries At Wimbledon - Nikki Moore
Review: Friday Night Bites - Chloe Neill
Review: Twice Bitten - Chloe Neill

I'm not a soccer fan - it bores me to tears. :D
ReplyDeletePoisonings? EEEK!
Seems like you had a great reading week!
Yeah... Not good for my poor town. :(
DeleteThor:Ragnarok is awesome. And yeah the news is crazy. Glad to see England doing well in the Cup. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice week.
Thanks Greg!
DeleteI guess the bonus for you is that the world cup only happens every 4 years. I am not a sports fan at all, but I sort of like seeing everyone fired up about something that isn't political.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! Although the Euro championships are every four years (off set by two) so every couple of years is football fever here. :/
DeleteI'm also from the UK and if I hear "It's coming home" one more time...! I want England to win but I also never want to watch football lol!
ReplyDeleteI have been following the poisoning stories though!
It's the most annoying song that brings on the rage! lol
DeleteNo news is good news. A quiet week is always welcome around my place.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy quiet. :)
DeleteI don't like watching sports...but good to know that you are enjoying yourself with it.
ReplyDeleteYour books look tempting. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
Have a good week!
DeleteI loved Thor: Ragnarok too! Easily one of my favorites in the MCU. Congrats on making progress with your GR challenge!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI loved Thor: Ragnarok! And I didn't like the first one and couldn't understand why they made a second lol
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
Yeah, number 2 wasnt a favourite but Ragnarok is genious! :)
DeleteI know just how you feel about all the excitement around The World Cup. The professor of my summer class is really into it, so everyday she talks for at least fifteen minuets about what happened the day before. Just gives me another fifteen minuets to read I guess. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a good week! :)
Thankfully its now over! :)
DeleteYou have my profound sympathy with all the horribleness going on in your neck of the woods - I hadn't realised that they had cordoned off the Queen Elizabeth Park! It does seem to be taking a great deal of time for them to sort it all out:(.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't really appreciated all that much about the footy as I'm allll about the tennis - until I encountered my small grandson who is besotted with the World Cup and I had to hear all about the goals in excruciating detail... Oh well - it should be over soon. In the meantime, I hope you have a great week and don't need too much therapy after reading a series of dark non-romances. There are some books that exert an eerie pull, aren't there?
Thanks SJ! I hope it goes back to normal soon.
DeletePoisonings? That sounds...errr....exciting. I can just imagine what the conspiracy nuts are saying.
ReplyDeleteAll started by a russian ex-pay getting poisoned. It's all fun and games here at the moment!
DeleteThat poisoning news is crazy, and it does bring out the conspiracy theory weirdos. Some people on the internet have way too much free time to come up with this stuff. I hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Thanks!
DeleteThe new Thor is a fantastic movie. My sister still hasn't seen it, so that might be something we can fix while she's off work! LOL

Definitely needs fixed!
DeleteOMG NO, NO, NO! I LOVE RON WEASLEY SO MUCH! LOL I'm glad my husband isn't home right now or we would be watching the World Cup. I don't really watch sports but I read the news and highlights and "try" to keep up to date.
ReplyDeleteOur office building actually has a huge TV in the lobby and they added a lot of beanie chairs for everyone to see the games. I just glance and walk away.. haha
Lol, sorry not sorry! :)
DeleteMore poisonings? Oh boy, I can just imagine people running wild with the crazy theories. Hopefully they get the park opened up again soon. I’m going to have to go read Avalinah’s post... that title alone has me laughing. I just have to know. :)

Yep. :(
DeleteAvalinah's post had me in stitches.
Nici if you can't beat them, join them! This is what I did with football and now I'm louder and crazier than all of them, your enthusiasm will kill theirs ππ€£
ReplyDeleteI posted Avalinah's is Ron Weasley just a dick? In my sunday post last week, isn't it so good and funny π loved it.
Me too! I had to agree with her too!
DeleteI love the Guardians! I love how music is such a important aspect in their characters, and that's how their characters are introduced.
ReplyDeleteThe music makes the movies awesome. :)
DeleteI'm finally catching up - so sorry I haven't been able to visit for so long! That's sad to hear about the place being cordoned off. I've heard of this stuff on the news. It's scary :/
ReplyDeleteOh, and lol, I know what you mean about the football - my boyfriend is English, he's been sending me "football is coming home" memes all week, I swear. In fact, I need to watch the next game in an hour.
Oh, and thank you so much for sharing my post! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
The post was awesome and so true!
DeleteI'm glad the football is over!
