The professor was in the Hague this week on work, therefore, I was flying solo on the home front and it was, once again, a crazy stressful week that saw me working off my stresses in the strangest ways... Like re-staining the wood floors throughout my current house.
I figured, they were scuffed up, they'd need sorting before we move into our own home so I DIY'd myself into contentment.
It was extremely satisfying and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it a year or two ago when we'd be able to enjoy the niceness ourselves!
But, oh well.
I also bought - despite the fact I was supposed to be extreme penny-pinching - the Crash Bandicoot release for the Nintendo Switch.
I LOVED that game when I was a kid.
My first ever console was a PS1 and that was one of the few games when I got it so I played it to death. When I found out it was being released on multiple platforms for the first time ever and had been digitally remastered, I grabbed it and settled in for a nostalgic gaming binge with the little dude.

Blood Match - KA Linde
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had an ARC of this one for over a month before I dared open it, despite the first in the series ending on an evil cliffhanger! I just couldn't. I was too scared of what would come next!
However, with my blog tour date on Wednesday, I braved the book and loved it!
Although, CLIFFHANGER!!!
The next book is the last one so I'm excited to see how it ends!
My Thoughts on Blood Match
Iron and Magic - Ilona Andrews
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Bought it. Read it. Loved it.
Want to cry at having to wait on the next one.
Will eventually write a review when I get over my happy little book hangover.

Iron and Magic - Ilona Andrews
Oh yes.
It finally released and, despite being a penny-pinching misery-guts at the moment, I didn't cancel my pre-order so it is mine!
And I read it and I'm already totally tweaking for the next one. And the next Kate Daniels book. And just anything that this duo write.
Meet Me At Willow Hall - Carla Burgess
eARC
After reading Meet Me Under The Mistletoe at Christmastime I complained (despite loving it) that there wasn't enough resolution between the main characters and I wanted an epilogue to know the HFN turned into a HEA.
Well, I guess it didn't because they're back in another book and they've split up!
Obviously, they'll get their HEA in this one which is better than an epilogue... Right?
Erm... Nothing really jumped out at me.
Although, I DID get some commenting and visiting done this week!
Huzzah!
Next up was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.
I watched this with the little dude and I just don't get it. It was the most pointless movie I've watched in a very long time but the little dude loved it so maybe I'm just not the target audience for it?
One thing that really got to me when I was watching it was, were the turtles turtles that turned into a people-like person or were they people who turned into turtle-like people?
Meh.
Finally, the little dude and I watched The Witches.
He's read various Roald Dahl books and he's watched a load of Roald Dahl book-movies so I suspected he'd like it and I was correct!
He loved it.
Of course he loved it... There was witches, and magic and rodents and chaos.
I'm glad he liked it though. It's one of those films I remember from when I was his age and, even though it's an old one now, it's still pretty cool.

I never played Crash Bandicoot, but I've heard of it. Sounds fun! And I haven't seen those movies although I did see the first TMNT one. It's been a while and I don't remember a lot? The Witches sounds like a fun one...
ReplyDeleteCrash Bandicoot is awesome! You should totally check it out.
DeleteI don't think you're missing much with TMNT... Awful sums it up! lol
Love Crash Bandicoot! I want to get it here soon. Hope you have a fantastic week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenea!
DeleteI loved Crash Bandicoot too. I had no idea it was being released for the Switch. I've been wanting to get a Switch and that makes me even more tempted, lol.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
Th switch is pretty cool, I recommend it! :)
DeleteAwww, how sweet, sharing your gaming love with the little one. We had Atari when I was a kid. Ha! Way to get it done. I hope your floors come out amazing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam, they're looking good so far! π
DeleteEvery time I see the word, 'cliffhanger' these days I just cringe. lol I just hate them.
ReplyDeleteQueen of the Damned is such a good movie and I love the music.
I don't have a gaming system of any kind, never got into it.
I know, I'm not a fan of the cliffhanger either. lol
DeleteThe only acceptable cliffhanger is when the next book is readily available.
Good week :)
ReplyDeleteFloors, getting Hugh! all the good things, lol.
I had a lazy week, behind on things every day
I know! It was awesome.
DeleteHaha yay for nostalgia! I bet the floors look beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThe floors are looking good. So satisfying! lol

ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to read Iron and Magic! I love the Hidden Legacy series, but still need to read her other books. <3
ReplyDeleteI find myself getting stir-crazy when Jacob leaves. Even though the kids are still here, I fell an emptiness. I usually start crocheting things like crazy, haha.
L @ Do You Dog-ear?
I wish I could crochet! I promised myself I'd learn to knit again but I haven't... Maybe a goal for next year. My grandmother taught me when I was a kid but other than the basic garter stitch I remember nothing.
DeleteI had a PS1 when I was a kid, too! I mostly remember playing Spyro. I’d love to have a gaming computer now, but I don’t have the money, and my laptop is too decrepit to do anything. I played The Sims constantly when I was a teen and would love to try The Sims 4. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
The dragon game! I remember that one. π
DeleteWhen I bought my current laptop I bought it with basic gaming in mind (Miinecraft, Civilization VI etc). I don't think it could handle anything really demanding. I enjoy gaming but don't get time to do it much.
The Switch is the little dudes and he adores it. The battle is in stopping him from living on it! lol
Sounds like a nice week! I haven't watched The Witches in years! I love Roald Dahl though. :)

It was a proper nostalgic trip! Even though it's old, it's still pretty cool.
DeleteI don't think I've ever played Crash Bandicoot. I was a NES person growing up. I was thinking of getting one of those NES Classic consoles this weekend when I found out our local Target had them in. However, when I went in to get it they were all sold out again. I think it would be fun to play a game from my childhood. They were so basic but so much fun.
ReplyDeleteMy cousin had the Nintendos... I loved playing Mario and Paperboy etc with him. I'd totally buy a classic too if given the chance. :)
DeleteUgh I need to do the floors at my house. But yay for a new video game! Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThe biggest challenge is keeping the cats away long enough for it to dry!
DeleteColor me impressed that you stained your own floors! Go you! :) Hope you’ve been having fun with the game. I don’t think I’ve played any video games since the early 80’s when I was addicted to Ms. Pac Man. LOL
ReplyDeleteAh, I like pacman... And Space Raiders and the like. They remind me of being a kid and playing in the arcade while waiting on trains with my mum.
DeleteI need to get to finishing up the series by Ilona Andrews and start on this new one. :) Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIron and Magic book one is best read before the final Kate Daniels book apparently! π
DeleteI remember watching The Witches as a child as well and really enjoying it! I loved all Roald Dahl adaptions, I might have to watch them again!
ReplyDeleteThey tend to be done quite well considering the book to film curse! π
DeleteSorry you had a stressful week, but glad that you turned it into something good. Isn't it funny how we often put work into a house just before we want to sell?

Lol, it's true...
DeleteI'm curious about Meet Me at Willow Hall. Thanks for sharing your week...and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely light hearted read!
