Weekly Upday #17

Welcome!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

I've been terrible about keeping up with the blog, comments, social media... Everything this week!
This is because I've been crazy busy with work, mortgage brokers, and housing developers, for the house buying is back on schedule!
Yep.
It was off and now it is back on and full steam ahead!
It's mentally exhausting, and stressful and is draining every spare piece of time and motivation I have outside of work and doing the minimum at home to ensure everyone is fed, the house doesn't become a public health hazard and that everyone has clean clothes...

I've no idea what the weeks ahead will bring but I'm anticipating more and more stress and general crazy so please bear with me while I pop in and out and am generally crap at keeping up with the goings-on in the interwebs!
I hope things will calm done a little before the chaos of moving kicks in!

Nothing.
I've been either too tired to do anything but sleep by the time I stop at night or my brain has been tap dancing around so badly I haven't been able to switch it off and immerse myself in anything.
😟
Tuesday sees the release of Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews so I'm really hoping that my favourite writing duo can work their magic and remove me from reality for a day or two!

Fire and Bone - Rachel A. Marks

I've been eyeballing this one for a while and when I saw it was 99p I couldn't resist!

Rise For Her - Milana Jacks

I clicked this on a KU impulse after a little snippet lured me in on Facebook... It's novella length and should have been perfect for my tiny attention span and limited time but oh my god. It was ridiculous. Even for cheesy fantasy, it was RIDICULOUS and not in a good way. It was a trip down wtf am I reading road and I quit after the 25% mark.
It was just too much.
Shame that the premise was so painful, for the writing was quite good!

I haven't been traversing the blogosphere.
Sorry!
I hope to spend some downtime blog surfing soon...

I watched Deadpool for the first time and, I have to say, I wasn't that impressed.
I truly have no idea what all the hype is about.
I mean, I laughed. I laughed a lot. I really appreciated the foul-mouth humor (it's amazing seeing a character in a movie with a mouth worse than mine when I hit my stride!) but the story was meh.
However, to be fair, it was only an hour and a half long and I was entertained so can I really expect more?

Blitz: Cry Baby by Ginger Scott
Review: Mute by ML Nystrom
Review: Dirty English by Ilsa Madden-Mills

I have some scheduled posts!
Go ME! I so rarely blog ahead and seeing how thingss are going at the moment, I'm so grateful for it!

Next week, I have a release blitz for the new Cindi Madsen book - Counterfeit Boyfriend - my place on the Blood Match (KA Linde) blog tour and I'm joining the Friday Book Blogger Hop meme.

Fail.
Fail, fail, failey, fail, fail.
Oh well.

Have a great week all!

  2. Good luck with the house hunting! And hopefully Iron and Magic will deliver the goods. :)

I don't really get the Deadpool thing either, but in fairness I haven't seen the new movie yet. I suppose I should. :)

  5. How exciting that the house is back on track. I can imagine how much you have to deal with but just think about how lovely it will be to build your new nest! Try to sneak in some escape with books and shows. Just a couple hours out of your head can help relieve that stress:)

  6. I know completely what you feel. I remember before summer break started, I literally have no time nor opportunity to manage my blog at all. Have a great week!

    1. It's so annoying, isn't it? It helps to know that the crazy will pass... :)

  7. Sorry you're dealing with a lot! I hope you get some reading and/or relaxation time soon. I've been a bit off with blogging these past few days because I'm out of town and my sister is in the hospital for surgery. I REALLY plan to blog ahead as much as I can later this week though so I have more to fall back on in the future. haha

  8. I wasn't a big fan of Deadpool either. It wasn't bad but...it also wasn't as mind-blowing for me as it was for a lot of other moviegoers. Best of luck with the rest of the home buying circus!

    1. Thanks JJ! The house buying is certainly a circus... I can't believe how complicated it is. I feel constantly lost and paranoid something will go wrong, lol.

  10. Yay on buying a house! We would like to move but are waiting on a few things, such as the market dropping a little. It's super pricey where we live right now compared to income levels. I hope things settle down and you can relax in the evenings with a book. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks Tressa. I totally understand about property prices. Our area is pricey too but because the little dude is in school here we're tied to it for a while. Fingers crossed that all completes and it doesn't fall through!:)

  11. I hope things go well with your house buying Nicci! And aren't scheduled ahead posts a life saver... I kind of want to take a break for a month and post an entire month's worth of posts head... hahahaha! I hope you can get some reading in this next week! ❤️

  12. I fully understand - they say that moving is the next most stressful life event next to bereavement and divorce and I think they are right... I hope you enjoy Fire and Bone, I found it an entertaining read with not an estate agent or prospective purchaser in sight. I hope this week is treating you kindly!

  13. Best of luck with your house-ing! We're about to put out flat on the market and I'm shuddering at the thought of how much stuff we have to ebay/Gumtree in a (hopefully) short space of time :-/
