Weekly Update #11

Welcome!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

We had a lovely week last week!
Our village had a fair, we went ten-pin bowling on Sunday and on bank holiday Monday we went to our favourite castle and had a
picnic in the sunshine.

The rest of the week was pretty mellow and uneventful which was great for I've had too much crap going on lately and needed the chill.

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas

⭐⭐⭐

This was a nice read that let you catch up with where all the characters were at after the events of ACOWAR but nothing much actually happens... Sure, it mentions things that are obviously going to be the focus of the new trilogy but there is no elaboration or drama. It's a simple slice of life type of read and as a huge fan of the series it was nice... But it wasn't riveting or necessary.

Kindle Unlimited:

I finally get to finish this series!
Yeay!

Pre-Orders:

OMG, Hugh!
Ok, I'm going to say it: I do not like the models on the cover.
However, I love the background and the outfits.
That said, I really don't care what cover is on this book because it's Hugh and I don't care he's a 'bad guy' in the Kate Daniels series for I love him and I bet that he is the unlikely ally to Kate in the final Kate Daniels novel and I'm going to die of bookwormy happiness.
(Yes, that is a long run-on sentence and I don't care about that either...)

I also pre-ordered Ilona Andrews' upcoming Hidden Legacy novella - Diamond Fire - but it doesn't have a cover yet.

ARC:

So excited to get my hands on this after the cliffhanger of the first book! But I'm terrified to actually read it. I just know it'll be another cliffhanger ending and that messed up crap will certainly go down... Must work up the courage before diving in!

Still 3.

Yet to begin.

7 behind.

This week I re-visited Sons of Anarchy and watched S1.
I forgot how much I enjoyed this show in the beginning.
Sigh.
Shame it all goes to hell.

As a family, we watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Spiderman: Homecoming.
This means we're nearing the end of our Marvel re-watch!
I love these films...

Tell Me Something Tuesday: Do you really read excerpts when featured on blogs?
Review: Kissed by Fire by Danielle Annett
Review: Uncovering You books 1-3 by Scarlett Edwards

This week, I'm taking part in a few blogger memes and a release blitz... Will also post my review for the Percy Jackson series. Yep, I wrote a review of the series rather than the individual books. There's reasons.
😊

Have a great week all!

  2. I used to love going bowling. My knee's are in bad shape so I haven't done it in a while.

  4. I am jealous of your lovely week. We are just preparing for my daughter's move, so no fun here, but at least we're together (though I would prefer going to a castle or a festival). I did NOT buy the new ACOTAR book. I am not a huge novella fan. Your thoughts make me feel good about my decision.

    1. Yeah, it was nice but the set up for the spin off series was minimal and I guarantee it will be re-capped in the first novel of the spin-off. *shrugs*
I hope your daughter's move goes well!

  5. Hooray for such a nice week! I'm not a huge novella fan but I absolutely make exceptions for anything ACOWAR-related. Love that series. I just got my copy of ACOFAS this week and I can't wait to dive in.

    1. It is a great series but I found it underwhelming... It was a nice way to pass the time though.

  6. Nice to have a chill week, the fair sounds fun! And bowling too. :) I just read an Ilona Andrews sampler as I've been thinking of trying that series, and it was quite good!

    Your Marvel rewatch sounds fun!

  7. Hmm. I think we have some common loves. Ilona Andrews and Sons of Anarchy are at the top of my list! (Notice my avatar, at the Teller Morrow set. I rode there on my Harley from Minnesota) I pre-order, auto-buy everything Ilona Andrews. I'm doing a Read-along of the Kate Daniels series on the blog this year, one book every 4 weeks with giveaways. I have 4 giveaways going happening on the blog as of tomorrow. It's a fun time. 8. oh and I'm sorry to hear you didn't like Court of Frost and Starlight more. That has been the consensus with my friends. I just started reading / listening to her books. I like them which is good because YA is not my thing usually. Anne - Books of My Heart

    1. Yeah, I found out a few things that just made me not want to go on, lol. That's typically why I stall out at the end of S4. I'm hopeful I can make it through to the end just once though.

  10. I am still reading A court of frost and starlight and I like it so far. :)

  13. I'm so envious, I would LOVE to visit a castle someday.

I'm looking forward to reading Ilona Andrews, I have one book by her on my Kindle but I would like to finish a couple other series before I start a new one. I hope you enjoy your new reads.

    Have a great week.

  14. Sounds like you had a great week. WE're getting ready to do a Marvel rewatch here too. I watched Infinity War this past weekend and realized that there are actually a few movies I don't remember watching so I need to revisit them.

  15. Is your 2018 reading challenge the one for Goodreads? What's your goal? I set mine really low so now I feel good every time it says I'm 8 books ahead. I say just change it. =)
