TMST: Do you really read excerpts when featured on blogs?

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post hosted on Rainy Day Ramblings where a wide range of topics is discussed from books to blogging.
Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments.
If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

Do you really read excerpts when featured on blogs?

That depends on whether the blurb sounds interesting.
If the blurb sounds interesting then I'll read the excerpt.
If I like the excerpt, I'll add the book to the wishlist.

Would I visit a blog to specifically read an excerpt?
No.
But considering how many books are available in every genre you can imagine now, an excerpt can go a long way towards making an informed choice on whether to spend the hard-earned cash, and take a chance on an unfamiliar author, or not.

  1. Unless I love the book summary, I don't read the available excerpts as well.

  2. You are a better person than I, lol. I never can bring myself to read them, I really should!

  3. I am Blod. I don’t read them, and I have gotten to the point where I don’t comment on posts that feature them because I don’t want to lie. Thanks for being a part of TMST!

    1. lol, I don't blame you. I wouldn't comment if I hadn't read it either :)

  4. I very rarely read excerpts on blog posts. Even if it's a book I'm truly interested in, and know I am going to read, I still don't want a sneak peek. :)

  5. I don't really read them. They take too much time and rarely say enough to convince me either way.

  6. I might read it, if it's a book I really want to know more about, but I have a thing about reading just part of a book. I won't go anywhere near a sampler.

    1. I made that mistake with Love Songs and Other Lies... Thought I was getting the whole book and got 5 chapters or something. It was infuriating! Got the complete book in the end though. :)

  7. That's a really great question! I actually never find myself reading excerpts, mostly because I tend to forget about them whenever I see them featured somewhere :o I'm more likely to remember them if I'm REALLY excited for the book though! :)

    1. I find if I read one for a book I'm really excited for it makes the waiting harder. Doesn't stop me but it makes it harder, lol.
