I have my thoughts on the book to share as well as book details, links, teasers, and an excerpt.
P.S - I freakin' loved this book.
For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.
In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.
Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.
For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.
Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.
Is it a spoiler to not answer?
Let's just say yes. No. Maybe. Kind of. No.
Oh, there are so many things I could say about this book.
So many things!
But I honestly don't know what to say.
I'm just... Shocked. And have a book hangover.
A serious book hangover...
Ok, here goes!
I loved it.
I loved the concept, I loved the writing style (it was my first KA Linde) and I liked the characters.
The chemistry between Reyna and Beckham was smoking hot.
The pace of the story was just right.
The information teases and setups were gripping. Throughout the book, I had so many suspicions and theories... And I was right on a couple of things! However, there is so much more to come and I cannot wait!
The book was unputdownable and I swear to god I was in a near perpetual state of anxiety throughout the entire thing waiting for something bad to happen, for the other shoe to drop, and for it to all go wrong... And it did!
OMG the ending!!
Why did it have to end like that?!
I hate cliffhangers and this was just too much!
I can't take it! I may actually die and I can't die because I need to know what happens!
I think paranormal romance lovers who like their PNR with an edge - this edge being a pseudo-dystopian setting - should definitely read this and fear not on the cliffie! For book two is out soon.
