Weekly Post #4

Welcome!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Now that's explained, it's on to my weekly recap!

This week was shaping up to be a pretty quiet week up until Thursday when we had our carbon monoxide alarms go off!
We had to evacuate the house, call out the emergency gas people and have the supply to our property cut off, and then ventilate the house for a while until we were given the all clear to return.
When we returned - later the same evening - we had no heating, no hot water and no cooker and the gas supply to the property was cut off until the system could be fully checked over by an engineer.
Luckily an engineer could come out the following day and restore supply.
Turns out it was a faulty CO detector.
Everyone involved was amazingly efficient and kind and I'm crazy grateful that we hadn't been slowly poisoned...
This coming week, I'm hoping for a lazy week of catching up on basic things, like ironing!

I also joined Slimming World this week and so far I've been very good and stuck to plan! Hopefully, this reflects in some good losses on Tuesday when I return to group.

None!
That is totally shameful, isn't it?
I've been reading the odd chapter, here and there, of The Windmill Cafe: Summer Breeze by Poppy Blake and it should have been a nice quick read - it's only about 100 pages! - but I'm just not clicking with it at all.
😞
If I can't power my way through it then I'll set it aside and pick up something else. I'd probably have DNF'd by now except that it's a review copy and I really try not to do that with review copies.

Just one!
Beauty and the Beast Boxset by Skye Warren.
It was free on amazon and I couldn't resist after discovering it was free over on Lily Element blog!

No ARCs or review books this week.
πŸ˜‡

My total for this remains at 8.

I've read 3 Dark Romances towards this challenge.
Not sure if I'll continue trying Dark Romance or if I'll switch to something else that I don't usually read.

Still haven't started on this!
Must do that...

Ugh, this week's reading slump has resulted in me falling to 4 books behind my Goodreads schedule.

I've been continuing on with The Vampire Diaries.
I'm onto season 6 now, which is further than I have ever watched before - I gave up before the mid-point of S5 the first time round when watching it 'live' - and although I've enjoyed the re-watch, so far, season 6 is getting very trippy.

Blitz: Alien Retribution by Sadie Carter
Blogging Challenge: Mini Blog Ahead 24th March - 7th April

This week we have a release blitz for Recovered by Jay Crownover.
Anything else is a surprise!

    1. Yeah, it was pretty annoying after a long day at work but better safe than sorry!

  3. Oh goodness. What a mess for a faulty detector but whew on it not being a real danger.

    1. Agreed. Now that we have a new one, we hopefully wont have to deal with that again for a while... If ever!

  4. Oh my gosh, I am glad it turned out to be a bad CO detector and not a leak! Thats scary! Hopefully this week is less eventful!

  5. Oh, that's scary to have the carbon monoxide alarm go off...and then find out that the detector was faulty! I guess I'd rather have to evacuate with a faulty alert than have no alert, though.

Enjoy your week...and thanks for visiting my blog.

  6. Oh no! What a stressful end to your week! It's good that it was just a faulty alarm though. Have a good week, and hopefully you'll get more read! :)

  7. I am glad it was only faulty equipment, but I bet that was frustrating too. Happy the situation was resolved quickly. You are so disciplined. I will DNF any book, even if it's a review book. I have no time for books I am not enjoying. I don't write a blog review, but I give my input to the publisher.

    1. It was frustrating but I'm glad it was just an alarm fault. :)
I've set my annoying review book aside for now and moved onto more enjoyable ones. :)

  8. We had a gas leak in our house last year. I was in the shower when it was discovered, so that wasn’t fun. I’m glad you weren’t poisoned. Have a great week and enjoy your new book!

    1. OMG, that's scary! At least it was the shower and not the bath.
I'm so grateful it was just our alarm.

  9. WOW! You had an exciting week! Sometimes I just want to take a break and NOT read for a week, but I get readers/bloggers guilt... So I envy you... <3

  10. We had that happen once too and it was kinda scary. Same thing- it was the detector. But better that then the alternative I guess. :) Glad everyone's okay.

I've only watched part of S1 of Vampire Diaries, sadly...

  11. I'm glad it was a false alarm and that they were quick to come out and check everything. Just grabbed Beauty and the Beast. Thanks, love freebies. Have a great week!

  12. That's crazy about the carbon monoxide fiasco, but at least you weren't poisoned and everything was taken care of quickly! Ugh, it's so frustrating when that happens with a book---it's so short that you should be able to get through it in a day... if only you could bring yourself to keep reading lol. Have a great week!

    1. I know! Typically a few hours and that book would be gone but I just can't... The main character is annoying. :(

  13. Oh the carbon monoxide alarm must have been scary, and you only know if its false alarm later. Ugh.
Thank you for the heads up about the Skye Warren boxset! I grabbed it!

    Have a wonderful week :)

    1. Exactly so! I'd always rather it be a faulty alarm than an actual life-risking situation.
      Enjoy the boxset! :)

  15. That’s scary about the carbon monoxide detector going off. Thank goodness there wasn’t actually a leak. Good luck with Slimming World! Hope you get good results tomorrow! Anything new from Jay Crownover is always exciting. :)

  16. Goodness! I'm glad it was a faulty detector rather than an actual leak.

My goodreads challenge is telling me that I suck. But I know I'm not that far behind. It's just that I haven't posted my reviews yet. :)

Hope you have a great week!

    1. I hate that little goodreads counter but I know all it'll take is one good series binge and I'll be perfectly back on track. :)

  17. Oh wow that's stressful. I'm glad it was just a glitch with your detector though.
